I have a chronotherm III unit with zoned heating. First floor and second floor have their own unit with on/off controls. Basement unit and sunroom unit are "slave units" tied to the first floor master unit. These units have their own temperature control settings but are dependent on first floor unit for on/off control.
Basement unit is set for heat at 62 but is heating up to as high as 78. Tried bypassing programming system (sleep, wake, leave, return) and setting it on "Hold" heat at 62. Doesn't help and what I found is that system automatically switches to a reading of "Hold-cool" and a setting of 65.
I have had 2 HVAC companies look at the system. One suggested the "Hold" solution. They checked the dampers and said the thermostat was working. They now want to use a camera to see if the problem is deeper than they can see with the eye.
By the way, the other "slave unit" in the sunroom (it's not sunny - I live in Pittsburgh!) also switches to Hold-cool after I set it to Hold heat. The temp in that room is also warmer than the setting.
If the dampers are installed properly, the should be able to nbe taken out with just the removal of a few screws for servicing. they should come out through the side or the bottom of the duct work. If you wish to attempt removal. please let me know. Steve

I have a Honeywell Chronotherm III thermostat. Occasionally I will hear it come on, the gas burner/blower kicks on but the blower fan for the house will not start. When this happens, the thermostat displays the current time and -A/C. I tried moving the fan switch to ON instead of AUTO but the fan does not come on. Eventually it comes on but I can smell the "hot" smell in the house because the burner continues to run without the blower fan going.

I have my Honeywell Chrontherm III set on adaptive intelligent recovery. It is set on "Leave" at 58 degrees at 7am and "Return" at 66 degrees at 4pm. The unit starts heating the house at 12noon to move it 8 degrees. According to the directions it should only kick on a max of 24 minutes per degree not 4 hours - any suggestions?
