When you press the reset button on the controller box, then you need to press the small recessed button on the back of the remote control. You'll need a pen to get in there, or better yet a paper clip. That will reset the remote.

I tried all the suggestions, starting with tapping the prongs with a key, then resetting the remote and tree together, finally trying the fuse. I took the box off and didn't see what would have been a replaceable fuse so I made sure the wires had a snug fit. While the box was opened I reset the remote and tree again and alas my tree is on.... now all I need is to move it back outside to try it out after moving it! Good luck to all of you I know its frustrating!

To "sync up" the remote with the control box, first press (and release) the reset button on the control box. Then insert a straightened paper clip into the hole on the back of the remote to depress the internal reset button to sync them.
