Question about SanDisk Sansa E280 MP3 Player

1 Answer

My fairly new (1 year old and rarely used ) Sansa 280 MP3 player just died. Tried to recharge by hooking it up to the computer but nothing happens, the computer doesn't even recognise that I have hooked anything up. Time to get a new MP3 Player?

Sansa clip mp3 player has problem with recharging. now dead.

I've had the same problem as you. It probably just doesn't work on that computer. Try plugging it into another one, see if it charges.

My Sansa 280 is "not licensed"

I solved the problem myself.  Bought a new one and threw the old one in the trash.  Voila!

Sansa 280 died, tried to rechrg but is not recognized by computer

Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged first.
Here is a friendly tip posted from another user - let me know if it works:
ok so i called 1-866-sandisk and she told me how to fix it. you just flip the key lock at the top so you see orange, then hold down the record button. then you should get some sort of message on the screen. then you plug it in and under my computer a file should show up. you open it and make a folder in it called sansa.fwm (i think thats the right folder name, if not, try sansa.tmp or email me). then you unplug it and it should say formatting or something like that. once its done it should work.

Nothing happens when ON switch is pressed.

Have you tried recharging the MP3 player? I too have a Sansa Clip which I play in the car so I don't often see the "battery low' message, but when I recharge it the MP3 player works again. I understand it takes longer to recharge from the computer so I bought a recharger I plug into the wall.

Sansa sandisk mp3 player 1 gig

Theoretically, you should be able to use this one forever, if you keep charging it. The battery isn't replaceable, so hopefully it will last you a good 3 years or more. The #1 threat to Mp3 players isn't the battery, but keeping up with software/computer environment changes. Most mp3 players introduced to date only last 1-2 years - much shorter than everyone had originally thought.

Have you tried recharging the battery? If it is not showing when you connect it to your computer, try holding down the Menu/On-Off button for 15 - 30 seconds and see if it goes on.
If you need a new battery this is a good place to get one:
