My dishwasher was not getting dishes clean. Took off the upper and lower spray arms, they were extremely clogged. Cleaned them, then tried again- still dirty dishes. Next I took the cover off the lower assembly, and found a circular filter that was covered with food particles, etc...removed that and cleaned it, and the dishwasher worked great for 2-3 weeks. Repeated the process, and this time got about a month out of it. Other than taking apart the assembly and cleaning the filter every month or so, what else can I try? Shouldn't much of the food particles be getting flushed out the drain hose? How can I access that hose, if that may be the problem?

Hey- Two things could be wrong.- clog, or bad motor. Sump screen needs to be cleaned of debris. Removal of sump cover to access screen requires torx bits and some patience. Replacement of pump requires pulling out dishwasher to access bottom. Motors fail when seal between motor and pump fails. Will still operate, but become weaker over time. Parts available- motor about 100$ at appliance parts pros.appliancepartspros. Hopes this helps- Thanks- ED
Probably a blocked spray arm. Remove the top spray arm and check and clean all the holes as this is where the water sprays out from to clean the dishes and glasses. When they are blocked you get poor wash results. Yes there will also be a filter in the base of the unit to clean. This needs to be done regularly to avoid food getting into the working parts of the unit.
could be the plastic shaft extension that screws onto the motor shaft to drive the pump. The threads on the plastic extension would sometimes get stripped out so that even though the motor is running, it isn't driving the pump mechanism. Assuming the dishwasher is filling with water and motor is running during the wash cycle. also check spray arm openings to make sure they aren't plugged up.
