Print a test page from the printers test menu and it will tell you the specifics of your printer.

Relevent info:

Your install disk may have been distributed before the release of Win7. You could download and install the full-featured software from HP support: (choose your operating system)

HP LaserJet 4 will not power up. For several months, it has been taking longer and longer to power up. Flip the switch and nothing happens for minutes, then it cycles on. Now, nothing. No lights, no hum,...

Hello,

The AC Power supply in your printer is out. The laserjet 4 and 4+ printers would both have long power up times when the power supply would start to die. You can get a replacement power supply very cheap now since the printers are older. We have them in stock as pulls from parts printers that should work just fine for you. We sell them for $30 plus shipping. We also have service manuals available if you need one. Let me know if you need more help.

HP 2600n Ironing transfer paper jammed around top roller

It is probably stuck permanently, and the fuser will need to be replaced. I believe the "fuser replacement" instructions are in the manual.

Hp Laserjet 4 Plus printing very light - second post

Your description indicates that the problem is with the printer driver settings.
Go to Start, Control Panel, Printers and check the setings for Economode and ReT. The should both be off or Economode=off and ReT set to Med or Dark.
This should fix the problem. Let me know if this works or not and we can try something else.

Here is your problem. Hope that this helps you.

54.1 PRINTER ERROR
Description:
Indicates that an internal power failure has
occurred.
Action:
1. Turn the printer off, and then turn the printer
back on.
2. Replace the high-voltage power supply.
3. Check the fuser to ensure jams have not
occurred.
Caution When clearing jams, the
thermistor can be damaged
causing this error.
4. Make sure there is not a fluctuation in the
power supply to the printer. Check that the
electrical specifications (see Chapter 1) are
met.
5. Replace the low-voltage power supply.

HP Laser Jet 4 Plus to iBook G4 serial to usb

serial to usb is not plug and play so i don't believe this configuration will ever work.
parrallel to usb is plug and play 90% of the time.
purchasing and installing a port replicator is a 100% fix as long as the formatter on the printer is working properly. good luck!
