Question about Garmin Nuvi 350 Car GPS Receiver

I have the White Screen of Death

My Nuvi was working fine until yesterday when I turned it on, and the screen will only show white. It starts with a dim white and then goes to a bright white screen. It is on in the background because I can hear it, but just no picture. Please help. Thanks

    The reset button just turns the unit off. You think the LCD needs to be replaced even though it gets power? How much does replacement usually run?

Try pressing the reset button underneath the antenna and if this doesn't help, then you'll need to have the LCD display replaced.

    Yes, the LCD display has it's own IC chips (Integrated circuits) that receive data from the main board and convert it to a visual readout. Having repaired many Nuvi's myself, any problems with the display are usually confined to the display itself. Now,if you dropped it, there's a possibility that the internal flex cable has partially come loose from the board. However, you can't tell that unless the Nuvi is opened up. I have seen Nuvi's with an all white screen, half white, half ok...all which were caused by a defective screen. Prices vary based upon whether you want a new screen or a used one. The price can be anywhere between $45 and up.

    Please don't try to do this yourself. I have received many horror stories from people who have destroyed their Nuvi by attempting to take it apart.

If it is brand new, I would return to the seller and ask for a replacement. Sometimes chasing down a problem like that can cost more in aggravation and fuel than it is worth.

Calibrating the Screen:

1. Turn off the nüvi.
2. Hold the upper-left comer of the screen white turning on the nüvi
3. Release the power key when the Garmin screen appears.
4. Continue to hold the upper-left corner of the touch screen for 30 seconds until a white screen with "Press dot" appears.

I need to calibrate my Garmin Nuvi 1260T. It's been alittle off ever since I got it. I tried holding the power button for 30 seconds and waiting until the calibration screen pops up but nothing pops up. ...

In order to calibrate the screen on the Nuvi 1260T, you need to follow these few simple steps.

- Turn off the device
- Hold the upper-left corner of the screen while turning on the device
- Release the power button when the Garmin screen appears
- Continue to hold the upper-left corner of the touch screen for 30 seconds until a white screen with "Press dot" appears.

This should allow you to calibrate the screen. I hope this helps!

Touchscreen not responding

If the touch screen of your phone is not responding to touch then it means you have to calibrate the screen to get it working once again.
To calibrate your screen, be sure that the nuvi is properly charged, then you follow the steps below:
  1. Turn off your nuvi,
  2. Press your finger on the upper left corner of the touch screen,
  3. While holding your finger on the touch screen, turn on the nuvi.
  4. Continue to hold your finger on the screen for about 30 seconds until the calibration screen appears(white screen with touch dot),
  5. Then follow the on screen instructions.
That should do the job for you. hope this helps.

I turn on my nuvi 1300 and get a white screen

Hi famoflu5,

It sounds like you have the "white screen of death" (I made that up) non-responsive screen...meaning you cannot enter data or make the unit respond to finger or sylus presses. There is a procedure for getting the screen back to normal, provided there are no other software or electronic issues.

Try these steps:
1. Turn off the Nuvi.
2. Hold the upper-left of the screen while turning power on.
3. Release the Power button when the Garmin screen appears.
4. Continue to hold the upper-left corner of the screen for 30 seconds, until a white screen with "Press dot" appears.
5. Press dot and that should get you back to normal.

Also, you may to need perform a hard reset for your unit to clear out any erroneous data.

These GPS units can be reset by holding the Power button for 10-15 seconds to completely shut the unit down. Then, do the same procedure for 10-15 seconds again, to power it back on.

It would be best to assure the unit has external power, and hopefully a full battery charge, for best results. Also you can download a complete manual from this link for more info:

Starting on page 47 of the manual in the appendix, it tells you about calibrating the screen (problem discussed above), updating software, and clearing user data.

If these steps don't bring your unit back to life, you may need to contact a regional repair facility or the factory for service.

Garmin nuvi 1350:touch screen calibration

Hold your finger on the top left corner of the screen while turning it on. Release the power button when you see the Garmin logo pop up but keep your finger on the top left corner until the white calibration screen shows.

You need to Calibrate the touch screen.1Turn off the Nuvi. 2 Turn on the Nuvi and hold the Power key to the left for about 30 seconds untill the calibration screen appears (white screen with "Press dot")

I had same problem. I called 866-4TOMTOM and was told that they would send a replacement. They were quite courteous. Be prepared to provide serial number that is on bottom of device.
