How do I set the default scan to email to PDF format

in the software settings, there is option to save as PDF as default

Scan to email is only 'tiff' format on that model...the scan settings you're checking are for scanning to folder only

You can not email documents on word format directly fromt he device.
PDF and image formats such as tiff and jpeg are the only formats you can scan.
A word document is a raw document that as been modified and formated by a specific text processor, in this case MS office. And the decive does not contain this processing capabilities.

-you need to have a PDF reader like Adobe Acrobat Reader
-if you have the program already; you need to include the program in the printer scan settings
-you need to open the Printer program then click on the scan category and select the Adobe program and set it as default to have a pdf format.

You can't without very expensive Optical Caractor Reader software to convert it. All that scanners do is print thousands of dots that they see from a document into a picture in JPEG format. All they see is dots, not text.

Make sure that you set the paper size in the setup menu for legal - 8.5 x 14 for the manual paper feed.
