I bought a new cutter block and foil and a bottle of OIL since my shaver keeps telling me its time. Problem is, there's nowhere to put the oil! Chris

My Braun electric shaver model 7680 has stopped functioning probably due to a dead battery ( I had it for years). A service center is asking in excess of 60 dollars to fix it. Battery and mother board...

If the shaver is completely dead and the charging lights no longer illuminate when plugged in, the circuit board will need changed. If they still illuminate when plugged in, you can just change the batteries.

You will find the batteries and also the circuit board with batteries at shaveroutlet.com. You can order which you require. See links below

There is a tip on the battery page for easier installation

shaveroutlet.com has an instructional video that shows you how to disassemble the shaver at the link below. It's the 4th video down

My Braun 7680 says "Oil"

Don't use vegetable oil on it. It will totally gum up. Get some shaver oil or sewing machine oil. Clean the shaver and put 1 drop of oil on your finger tip. With the shaver turned on, rub your finger over the shaving head. This will allow the oil to wick into the cutting area.

Noisy Braun 7680

I followed the instructions from Nick123456 for taking the shaver apart, cleaned all areas and oiled everywhere I could see moving parts around the motor. Then I put it back together making sure that the side screws were very tight. It is now much quieter and the shave seems OK but not brilliant. (Sorry about the typos in the original posting).

Braun Synchro 7680 - "Oil" message

Had the same problem on my shaver too. Bought this product:
http://www.onlineshavers.com/pd_braun_8000_activator_foil_cutter_pack31.cfm

(I know the link says foil cutter, but it takes you to Braun lubricating oil!)

I apply the lubricating oil to the foil etc, then the word "oil" disappears. Then after a while the word "oil" comes back and I apply the oil again and so on, my shaver still performs normally.

Hope this helps.

Oil

Per page 13 of a Braun Shaver manual:

If your skin is very dry and you notice a reduced
operation time of the shaver or if the display shows «oil!»,
apply a drop of light machine oil onto the shaver foil.
