Question about HP Photosmart C3180 All-In-One InkJet Printer

AiO Software NPI is coming as a message when I open my PC and needs the disk recently, whenever I reboot my pc, Windows installer starts running trying to install software, I have no idea why, so I keep clicking cancel,I usually have to cancel about 5 or 6 install instances before it stops, but I receive the error message that AiO Software NPI needs cd-rom or other removable disc in order to install..

I have the same issue; error message was originally listed as 1706. When I checked Event Viewer (XP) through Administrative Tools, the details of the error were listed as an msi installer package error, part of the Digital Imaging portion of the C3180. After finding the installation CD and running the "update and repair" function, the software on my laptop is working better..BUT error is repeated, but this time with error code 2718. A quick fix is to go to Task Manager and kill the msiexec.exe process (takes some time), but this disrupts any other app being installed upon reboot. I've searched and searched through every directory (even the AiO) - thinking that the original package might have been on a temp file. This error is slowing up my PC and fouling up other malware and spyware apps and backup that run at startup. Any ideas?

I have the HP C7180 that I was trying to install of laptop and am getting the same message and problems with the windows installer. However, this is followed up with a box about "Microsoft .NET Framework" which says: An unhandled exception has occurred in a component in our application. Click continue and app will ignore this error and attempt to continue. Object reference not set to an instance of an object.: What ever the heck that means. I did try clicking "continue," but the same message recurs. There are also "details" which are too lengthy to type here. Does anyone have any idea of how to FIX this problem?

What you must know is that the program which is being reported was damaged either by a virus or its folder removed or moved by the user.
-Open control Panel, click Add and Remove (WinXP). In Vista / Win7, Open mu computer, Click Uninstall Software.
- Remove all HP Printer software installed in your PC
-Re-install (using the CD) any product that you have removed
The proble will desappear for good.

SOURCE: AiO Software NPI

Yes, insert the HP CD and re-install the software.
If you don't have the CD, it can be downloaded from HP.

Reboot error - did not come with disk

You could have a hard drive failure. In that case you need to get a new on and re-install the operating system. Depending on the operating system which i guess is windows XP you should have no problem re-installing it with a valid license. To optain the software you need to find it on the internet and download it. then use your license to validate it. Hope this helps

Start up problem

Download the "windows Installer cleanup utility" from microsoft --
After installing it on your computer, go to it from your programs menu and select AiO software NPI ... from the list of programs
presented. Hit the button to remove, don't worry about the pop up window that says you had a system error, just agree with it.

Kodak EasyShare 5300

Sorry to hear about your trouble. Since I am not sure of the details, let me offer a long review and suggestion. It may work for you, especially if the AiO software is not installing correctly.

If the KODAK AiO Home Center software fails to start or an error message appears, there may be a problem with the Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 installation. To resolve this condition:

1. Open the Control Panel.
2. Double-click Add / Remove Programs (for Windows XP) or Programs and Features (for Windows Vista).
3. Select Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.

IMPORTANT: If other versions of Microsoft .NET Framework are listed, do not perform this operation on those other versions. Follow this procedure ONLY for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.

4. Click Change / Remove (for Windows XP) or Uninstall (for Windows Vista).

5. Select Repair, and click Next.
NOTE: A progress bar shows the repair progress.

6. After the repair is complete, make sure the Restart the computer check box is selected, and click Finish.

7. After the computer restarts, start the KODAK AiO Home Center software.

IMPORTANT: If the KODAK AiO Home Center software fails to start or continues to display an error message, completely uninstall Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 and do a clean reinstall KODAK AiO Home Center software. The Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 will also be reinstalled with the KODAK AiO Home Center software.

1. Follow steps 1 - 4 above.

2. Select Uninstall, and click Next.
IMPORTANT: Uninstall ONLY Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. If other versions of Microsoft .NET Framework are listed, do not uninstall them.

3. Restart the computer.

4. Perform a clean re-installation of the KODAK AiO Home Center software:

a. Disconnect all USB devices from the computer, including the Kodak EasyShare all-in-one printer.
NOTE: Do not disconnect your mouse or keyboard.
b. Uninstall the Kodak EasyShare 5000 series all-in-one software:

1. In the Control Panel, select Add or Remove Programs (Windows XP) or Program and Features (Windows Vista).
2. Select one of the following software programs from the list of currently installed programs, depending on which one appears in your list:

Kodak EasyShare software
Kodak all-in-one printer software
Kodak EasyShare 5000 series all-in-one software

3. Click Change or Remove (Windows XP) or Uninstall (Windows Vista).
4. When the Install Wizard appears, click Next.
5. Depending on the issue(s) you are experiencing, do the following:

- If you are experiencing errors with the Kodak EasyShare software, such as a Tricode, in addition to errors with the KODAK AiO Home Center software, select Remove, click Next, and follow the on-screen instructions for removing the software.
- If you are not experiencing errors with Kodak EasyShare software, select Modify to uninstall only KODAK AiO Home Center software, and click Next.

6 In the Custom Setup window, select Remove from the drop-down menu for the Kodak All-in-One Printer, and click Next.
vii. In the Ready to remove the program window, click Next.
viii. In the Uninstall Complete window, click Continue.
ix. Restart the computer.

c. Delete the files and folders that can interfere with the installation.

For Windows XP, delete:
i. Printer folder in C:\Program Files\Kodak
ii. Both the Eastman Kodak Company and KDS_Kodak folders in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data
iii. Kodak 5000 Series AiO folder in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Kodak

For Windows Vista, delete:

ii. Eastman Kodak Company folder in C:\ProgramData
iii. Eastman Kodak Company folder(s) in C:\Users\your name\AppData\Local

d. Run Disk Cleanup.

i. Open My Computer.
ii. Right-click Local Disk (C:) and select Properties.
iii. Click the Disk Cleanup button.
iv. When the Disk Cleanup for (C:) window appears, select the Temporary Internet Files, Recycle Bin, and Temporary Files check boxes.
v. Click OK , then click Yes to delete all files and begin the Disk Cleanup.
vi. When the Disk Cleanup is finished, click OK in the Local Disk (C:) Properties window.

e. Shut down all background applications.

i. Select Start > Run.
ii. Type msconfig in the Open field, and click OK.
iii. Select the Startup tab.

IMPORTANT: If not all the applications in the Startup Items list are selected, write down which applications are selected so you know which ones to turn on again later.

iv. Click Disable All , then click OK .
v. When prompted, restart the computer.

f. After the computer restarts, insert the KODAK EASYSHARE 5000 Series All-in-One Software CD into the computer CD drive to begin the installation.

g. During the installation process, when prompted, select to search for an updated version of the software on the Kodak Web site and install the updated version.

h. Before restarting the computer again, turn on the background applications.

i. Select Start > Run.
ii. Type msconfig in the Open field and click OK.
iii. Select the Startup tab.
iv. Under Startup Items:

- If only some items were originally selected, select the check box in front of the items that you noted in Step e-iii.
- If all background items were originally selected, click Enable All, and click OK.

i. Restart the computer.

Home Center will not open...Can't scan

I needed to reload my AiO Home Center software and no one seemed to have the correct procedure. Maybe if you remove & reinstall yours it will resolve your problem. This procedure worked for me on my XP-machine:
1. got to Control Panel/Printers&Faxes and delete the printer
2. go to your Hardware/Device Manager/Universal Serial Bus Controllers, right-click on USB Composite Device and select Uninstall
3. go to Control Panel/Add/Remove Software and remove the EasyShare software
4. disconnect the cables from the Printer
5. download from the program "install_aio.exe"; run the program
(I selected only AiO+EasyShare+Software Updater to load)
6. followed the prompts after the sw installed to reconnect the Printer cables
7. rebooted
