The kepboard on my toshiba laptop does not work. I tried unlocking it and pressing the fn key and f9 at the same time but that does't work either. Do I need to get a new keyboard?

fn+f9 is mouse unlock on a toshiba if you know how to remove your keyboard from the laptop to see if it somehow became disconnected if it hasnt then you will have to fully remove it my disconnecting the keyboard from the motherboard and get some cleaning supplies or prefer running alcohol and some q-tips and carefully clean the connection on the board if it has golden pins when you remove the keyboard (keyboard connector on keyboard) then you will have to use a skinny flat object and a papertowel carefully

How do i reboot my computer

Hi,

To reboot the desktop machine, kindly press the power on button for few seconds / small button(reset) below the power button to reboot the computer.

If its laptop follow the below steps

Determine what operating system it uses. Finding out what operating system your laptop uses will let you know what key combo (such as "Ctrl+Alt+Delete") can exit you from usage and trigger a reboot or shutdown.

Try and reboot using the operating system. Attempt to use the key combination that will allow you to exit from the operating system and restart the laptop. Be patient, as it may take some time if it has locked up.

Hold down the power button. If the operating system's answer to the rebooting will not work, find and hold down the power button of the laptop. This should cause the device to shut itself off. You'll have to press the power button again to power it back on, completing the reboot.

Unplug from the wall and remove the battery. If restarting via the operating system and the power button do not work, unplug the laptop from the wall outlet, and remove the battery from the laptop. This will cause it to power off immediately.

Allow time to reboot. Give the laptop time to cool down before you power it back on if you had to do this manually. A few seconds should do unless you have additional problems.

I want to restart or reset my laptop. how?

Hi,

Few steps to restart you laptop, I would suggest not to restart often since it will degrade the hardware resource.
  • Determine what operating system it uses. Finding out what operating system your laptop uses will let you know what key combo (such as "Ctrl+Alt+Delete") can exit you from usage and trigger a reboot or shutdown.
  • Try and reboot using the operating system. Attempt to use the key combination that will allow you to exit from the operating system and restart the laptop. Be patient, as it may take some time if it has locked up.
  • Hold down the power button. If the operating system's answer to the rebooting will not work, find and hold down the power button of the laptop. This should cause the device to shut itself off. You'll have to press the power button again to power it back on, completing the reboot.

Else Try:

Windows start > there's a small arrow(pointing RIGHT) in the left bottom > click it and u will get ALL the Power House Options there at your Click(sleep, hibernate, shut down,RESTART,....)

How do I reboot my acer laptop with my copy disk?

When turning your laptop on, before Windows starts booting, a splash screen appears first (usually with the logo of the manufacturer). Look on the splash screen (usually at the bottom) for a key (usually F10 or F11), assigned for System Recovery CD/DVD with the laptop. or 1.Press the start button from the start menu depending on your operating system(win 2000,xp) 2.Press Ctrl+Alt+delete combination from the keyboard. 3.If you have a power button on your laptop keyboard,it could also be useful by pressing and hold it down for few seconds N.B: "Ctrl+Alt+Delete" can exit you from usage and trigger a reboot or shutdown. Try and reboot using the operating system. Attempt to use the key combination that will allow you to exit from the operating system and restart the laptop. Be patient, as it may take some time if it has locked up. Hold down the power button. Laptop button not working

Press alt+ctrl+fn
Most of the time this will work.

1. Try pressing both the left and right CTRL keys at the same time and
see if that releases CTRL.

2. Go to Start / Settings / Control Panel / Accessibility Options /
Keyboard Options.
Turn off CTRL lock if it's on.
If that solves it and to avoid future problems, press "Settings"
Turn off "Press modifier key twice to lock".
Turn on "Turn sticky keys off if 2 keys are pressed at once".
Or turn off "Use shortcut"

3. Clean your keyboard.

If not working, comment back. All the best.

Dust behind laptop start button makes it hard to turn on

To clean out the start button, try using a compressed air canister with the tube attachment (looks like a straw). This makes the canned air's stream much more powerful and directed to allow you to expel the dirt from the power button.

HP PC bogged down despite cleaning cache and removing old programs

Try adaware or spybot. Your PC could also be overheating. Open the case and blow out any dust. I also would check your add/remove programs and delete an software you don't use. Hit ctrl alt del when your PC slows down and look at the running processes for what might be slowing your system down.

Bios password forgotten on toshiba laptop

there are many bios passwords but most except 1 can be bypassed by a simple work around:

open your laptop exposing the mother board, look for a the CMOS/BIOS battery (the one in the picture). if you have more than one, remove both, then let it sit without the battery for at least 3 hours. (best if you do this overnight because results may vary depending on the model of your mobo)

after that, put the battery back in, put the laptop back together, and you are good to go.

good luck, hope you get this one running.
