Hi, I Have a toshiba Laptop (1 year old) with a 32 bit operating system, vista home premium, ATI Moblilty Radeon HD 2600 graphics card. Problem im having is im trying to play older games like fallout 1, and various other games and cannot play because i keep getting an error message 'Error initializing video mode 640x480'. I try to right click on the executable file for the game and change the compatibility for older versions of windows- still doesnt work, i try to run game at 640*480 in the same way and still doesnt work, i try and run windows from system boot as 640*480 still doesnt work. I think this a known problem because when i google this query hundreds of people have the same problem is this problem fixable? Also this happened with newer games as well, i tried gta san andreus and still didnt work but problem said cannot support full screen mode, please can someone cure this horrible problem for me i will be greatly impressed if you can Cheers Lee Stynes

Im thinking your new pc may be too fast to run these games you can try to go online and search for an emulator to run these games through.

Is this going to be surfice?

Yup this used pc has a superior processor running at 2.8 Ghz, more ram, and a better video card. Also windows 7 is a 64 bit system and it runs better even on slower pcs because its more compatible for dual core processors. Enjoy your faster pc.

Do you get any error messages? Try Downloading the updated drivers and install them. Make sure you download the drivers for 64-bit vista OS. Now if it still doesnt work let me know.

HI,
You can go into the BIOS , under onboard devices. Change the primary video controller to PCI.
refer to the following screen
http://supportapj.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim4700/sm/syssetup.htm#wp1052347

If the cards are not detected on the board. Then the problem could be of the PCIe slot .

Thanks

Unable to get my new graphics card to work

Just moments ago, I downloaded the latest (v9.4) Vista 64-bit driver for my LX 6200 for my HD 4650 512MB video card. It seems to have fixed a cursor flickering problem, but didn't help with the screen saver problem. My card is made by Sapphire and I downloaded the driver from there site at: http://www1.sapphiretech.com/us/support/drivers.php

Disabling the built in HD3200 is key to successfully installing the Catalyst software.
