Question about Canon S 530D InkJet Printer

Turning off color when no more ink

I've run out of color ink and only want to use black. I have plenty of cartridges in black.

how to I get the printer to continue to print only in black and avoid having to purchase new color cartridges when I don't need them?

that's the problem...despite only printing in black, if one of the colors is empty, it does not print.

I need to turn off the color wells -- to fool the printer somehow, so I can still print.

    very frustrating

you're brilliant AND it worked as well when I removed the color tanks.

    I so very appreciate it!

    Happy Holidays.

It should print as long as the letters color selected is black.

In order to allow you to do this, go to the "start" menu on your computer. Then click on "settings" or "control panel." Navigate your way to your "devices" and then "printers." Right click on the printer icon for your printer and click on "properties." Then click on the "color" tab. Check the box that says "grayscale" and check the box that says "black cartridge only." This will allow you to print using only the black print cartridge in your printer without a color cartridge. At least this works for my printer. The process should be the same for yours, or something similar. Hope my answer helps. make sure the old color cartridge is still in place.

I am out of colored ink. I have plenty of black and would like to print a black only page. my alarm light is on and it will not print, just says out of colored ink.

It's not going to work until you replace the empty cartridge. I haven't heard of any printers, colour printers, that will print if ANY of its cartridges are empty or missing.

You will need to replace the empty color cartridge to get the flashing to stop.

However you should still be able to print in BW. Check that the applications you are running are set to
BW and not color in the configuration menu. That should permit you to print in BW only.

Error message that color cartridge has low ink, so printer won't print. How do I override this? This message occurs when only one color is low and requires replacing the entire cartridge.

No way 2 override the message. Printer works on a combination of both black and color ink to print those perfect pictures and documents. If it is showing color ink needs replacement, you ve 2 change it in order to print even in black and white.

Have you tried cleaning the print heads or replacing the color cartridge? where as it it printing black fine it leads me to believe the problem lies in the color cartridge. my first recomendation would be to run the clean print head wizard in the printer settings and if that does not work then replace your color cartridge.

Cartridge error

How I solved this problem was, I took out the color cartridge (which seem to be the one giving the error message) and worked only with the black ink (and chose print black and white )

My color ink cartridge had been refilled at Walgreens. The Black ink cartridge is an original Lexmark
