Maybe the discreader (this little silver thing in the Game Cube) is damaged. If it is, there is no hope.

The Game Disc could not be read.

If you have not used the game disc successfully before and it is not scratched it could just be a bad cd and you should attempt to return it for a new one if possible. If it has worked previously you should see if anyone you know has a gamecube you could try it on and see if it works for them. One thing you could try to do is very carefully, take an ear cleaner and gently rub it over the small circular glass reader to clean away any minute residue. Some game discs are just more finicky than others. And as always with older game systems there is the tried and true technique of just turning the system off and on until it works.

My Nintendo Gamecube sometimes will only read discs. Most of the time it will spin for about 5 seconds, then stop. When I went to my friend's house, his Wii read my discs totally fine. Also, some of my...

I would suggest cleaning the lens firstly. Use some rubbing alcohol and a qtip, clean the lens inside the disc slot and then use another qtip to clean out all of the other nooks and crannies in the slot. I would also suggest hitting it with a couple blasts of canned air. This video gives you a good idea of what you need to do:

Put disk in and the Gamecube keeps saying there is not disk..wtf?

Your Gamecube reader lens may be dirty. Take some rubbing alcohol and a q-tip and rub it lightly and carefully on your Gamecube lens. If this does not work, it could be your Gamecube discs. Sometimes Gamecube discs can get worn out, and no longer work. Another possibility is the reading lens is completely broken. You will have to buy a Nintendo Game Bit tool to open your Gamecube, and replace the lens with a new lens that you will have to buy. I hope this helped.

I have a need for speed game for my gamecube and it keeps on saying that the disc could not be read and that i should read my gamecubes instruction booklet

Troubleshooting - Multiple Discs
  1. Some games may need to be cleaned. Clean each disc with a soft, slightly damp cotton cloth (use water only). Clean them from center towards the edges; do not use a circular motion. DO NOT use paper. Once they are cleaned, dry the disc using a dry portion of the cloth and wiping in the same style as you did to clean the discs. After all of the water is gone, let the discs sit for at least two minutes to completely dry before inserting any of them into the Nintendo GameCube.
  2. Check for Unlicensed products. Make sure that you're using only licensed products with your Nintendo system. Unlicensed products are not tested for compatibilty and may not work correctly with all games. Try playing the game without the unlicensed accessory.
  3. Ensure the games are being loaded properly. With the power turned off on the system, replace a Game Disc (printed side up) in the system, press down gently on the Game Disc until it locks on the center hub. Close the Disc Cover and press the power button ON to see if the game comes on the screen. Try this with a few of your games.
If Troubleshooting doesn't fix the problem, and it is happening with all of your games then the system may need to be repaired then.

I pop my game in the gamecube but it won't read the disc

You probably need to clean the laser lens that reds the disks. If you can get at it, use a Que-tip and some rubbing alcohol

Wii unable to read gamecube disc... :(

If Wii gives Disc Read Error, first step you need to check is to try another disc or clean the exisitng disc. This will confirm that problem is with either Wii or Disc. If the console itself is giving disc read error then it needs to be repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide, that will show step by step information to fix the problem yourself. My gamecube wont read my game disc

Its either the game disc or the lens of the gamecube. Try cleaning the disk or try another disc. If the cube still doesn't read the disk your lens is probably scratched in which case you would need a new gamecube.
