Question about Computers & Internet

Total memory What is the max quantity of RAM usable for this model? The board has 4 slots--alternate green and purple. Both green are occupied with 2-Siemens 256 Mb PC3200 boards. Will two 1 Gb boards work in this machine? Are there any web sites for this information? Thanks, Tom

man you must tell the motherboard no. or must bi able to identify ram slots bcoz the green slots are usaually used for SLI video cards, those are nt ram slots.

With out the model number of your computer. i would guess that by you having 4 slots you would need 4 (512mb) memory sticks that would give you a total of 2gb of ram. which is probably your max. also pretty sure you have to have the same size in each slot. you cant mix 1gb then 512mb it will not work.

Vram is 256 mb but dedicated is 64 mb and shared is 192mb . how do i change it.. no option in bios also. Sony vgn n220e

You should not change this. Laptops have small video chips and often depend on "shared" memory to achieve good performance without overheating. Basically, the video processor borrows some of your installed RAM memory. Also, your laptop may have been supplied to you with less total RAM memory than the maximum and you can add more memory. In Windows, click on Start then right-click on Computer and select Properties. In the Properties window you can read how much total memory is installed. 2GB (2048MB) is a desrirable amount for Windows XP. Windows Vista and Windows 7 can benefit by having total 4GB of RAM memory. Check your Sony user manual for instructions on adding more memory. Basically, you turn off the laptop, remove the battery pack and unscrew a small cover on the bottom of the laptop to access the memory slots. Usually, there are 2 slots here. Ideally, you should install a matched pair of memory modules (a "kit") for peak performance. However, quantity of memory is more important than having matched modules, so if one slot is occupied and the other slot is empty you may simply buy one more module and install it in the empty slot.

Has pc100 128mb and tried to go to Pc133 and wouldn't accept, what is the max memory i can put on this board

the details of that board are sorta sketchy, it could be an intel 810 series or 815 series. theres really no way to tell except by opening it up and looking for the largest exposed ic chip with intel stamped on it, and look for an 810 or 815 designation on that chip.

if its an 810, it may not support pc133 ram, depending on the exact 810 model. if its an 810, it also will not support more than 256 total ram.

if its an 815, it will accept 512 total ram, if not more; however, you will have to go with no more than 4 ram sides- meaning, if you have 2 double-sided ram sticks, you will not be able to add anymore. if you have 2 single sided sticks, and a 3rd ram slot open, you may be able to add a double sided stick in the empty slot for 1+1+2=4 ram sides.

I want to know how many RAM memories(in GB) can reach the motherboard M810D

You can calculate it yourself.
a = the number of simm slots
b= the maxium value of ram chip the moher board allows

there for the total is a * b ram memory
eg 2 slots , 512mb max memory chip size = 1024mb memory max

Hey Richard, your board has 2 x 184 DIMM slots, that are both usable, with a maximum capacity of 2GB, supported RAM types are 333MHz, and 266MHz..

Hope this is what you are looking for,

# of RAM slots

There are two models for this type of desktop, the first having only two DIMM slots, but that takes PC2700 Ram, you have stated that yours takes PC3200 which would make it the second model in which case your model has (4) DIMM slots, each slot is capable of holding a 1 GB stick of ram for a total of 4 GB. Your RAM specification is DDR PC-3200

Help my pc is not detecting the correct amount of ram installed

Okay, first things first. IF the memory you installed is 1024 and you are using the on board video and it is 512 MB, you will only have 512 MB usable memory. This is because the on board video uses the installed memory to function. What ever the video memory is, subtract that form the total memory. If this is not the case, try re-seating the memory. If the numbers still do not add up then if there are four memory slots, make sure the memory is installed in the same color slots. Most desktops with 4 memory slots have two slots one color and the other two another color. Make sure both memory sticks are installed in the same color.

I have a question on how to add RAM to an Intel D850MV.

According to specs your board can max out at 2GB. So you could fill all slots with 512 Gb sticks, 1GB total in each bank. You should always match RAM in pairs. You should be able to add just 1 stick in second bank as long as the first 2 banks are filled.

Upgrading ram

Hi reisrui, yes it is odd. (It's not the first time I have seen this.)
According to you're manual on page 6, under Specifications. The manual say's you can run up to a Max speed of PC3200 400MHz, 1GB in slot one. In slot 2 you can run a Max of 1GB of PC2700 333MHz in slot 2. Every motherboard I have come across that can run two different speeds of memory. The system will reduce the Max speed to the lower MHz memory speed. If you currently are using 512MB PC3200 400MHz in slot 1 & add 1GB of PC3200 400MHz into slot 2 for a total of 1.5GB of memory. The motherboard will ruduce the total memory over all speed to PC2700 333MHz. Motherboards alway run at the lower memory speed if two different speeds are presant.
I can’t be 100% sure of the 1GB of PC3200 400MHz into slot 2, will run at all! Or if it will be reduce down to 333MHz. I am sure you can run 2GB of PC2700 333MHz, 1GB of memory per slot in you're board for a total of 2GB.

If I can help you further, feel free to post.
Suggestions & comments welcomed.
