Question about LaCie Ethernet Disk Mini, 500 GB Hard Disk Drive with Gigabit Ethernet & USB 2.0 Interface, 7200 rpm... IDE Hard Drive
Everything went find for format using the disc sent with computer.(Dell) After I could not connect to internet. I looked in task manager and had yellow lights for ethernet and others. What can I do to check and see if ethernet card is good...or any suggestions for fix?
Right-click the My Computer icon and select Manage, then go to the Device Manager in the list on the left and find the Network Adapter from the list on the right, right-click Network Adapter and select Uninstall. When you reboot, XP should find the Adapter and reinstall it automatically. Another reboot may be required.
If it still will not connect, go to the NIC Manufacturer's website and download the driver to removable media. The Driver Update option can be accessed in the Device Manager, but this time select Properties when you right-click the Network Adapter, and go to the Driver tab.

I just went through the same thing. My Dell Dimension 2400 would only work in safe mode, BSOD in regular mode. After much troubleshooting decided to reinstall Windows XP. After reinstalling windows my internet connection did not work. (ethernet cable from router/ cable modem). Started reinstalling drivers from Dell Dimension Resource CD. After installing the XP drivers for the Broadcom 4401.. internet works! Hope this helps someone.
