I have had this camara since 11/08. Had no problem with batteries until 3 months ago. I had used anything from cheap batteries to batteries that are made for digital cameras. Cheap ones did not last as long but they did work for more than1 pic. Now everything only works for 1 pic. You can review all prev. pics though.

Digital cameras require vast amounts of battery power. First check to see if the camera settings are on the simplest or default settings. If you are using batteries from some of the big warehouse stores check the expiration dates. The next thing you can try are the batteries labeled specifically for digital camera use. They have stronger holding power for the abuse the digital cameras can put on a battery. they are more expensive, so watch your overall cost. Another way you could go is to use rechargeable batteries and keep rotating fresh, charged batteries in thed camera.

Canon A400

Having using standard LR6 batteries in a Canon before you will only get 3 or 4 pics max before it drains the batteries. You really need high power AA's like 2300mAH+ rechargeables for any good performance or Lithium AA's

Canon powershot g5 - battery charge

Take out the battery and put it back and than recharge again. Some times in case of G5 it happens that the camera battery is not properly charged and the indicator shows that its fully charged (i.e. Green light) In such cases battery need to be taken out and than put back again and recharged

Change battery message

I am experiencing exactly the same problem with my Canon Powerhot S2IS. I tried the same thing to remedy it by cleaning off the contacts, but no luck. And it's not simply a cold weather problem. My camera does this with brand new Duracell batteries as well as with freshly recharged NMH batteries. What gives? I've had the camera for nealy 2 years and have taken excellent care of it.

Limited life for the camera

Yes, your wonderful FZ20 has a limited life span ... but so does the pricey Canon 1Ds MarkII, the Nikon D70, the Olympus C-8080, the computer you're using now, and your TV set. :) We're talking about sensative electronics ... and when you put a lot of use into your camera, eventually components will fail. That said, 35,000 shots if just a number someone picked out of the sky. I've put more than 250,000 shots through my D70 since early in 2004 and haven't had to send it in to Nikon for repair yet. On the flip side I owned one digital camera for just over a week and had to send it in for warranty repair. "Eventually" the FZ20 will die. Will it die before you decide to upgrade to a new camera? Will it die before you "pass on" yourself? No one knows. I'd like to say there is a standard number of shots you can take before your camera develops problems, but in reality, there are WAY too many factors that contribute to the longevity or early death of your camera to know what you can expect.
