First, Connect the Phone line in Line 1 EXT at back of printer
Check the No. of Rings on your Answer machine. If you have 4 Rings set on Answer machine then you need to set 6 Rings on the printer ( as simple 2 rings more than your Answer machine ) And you need to turn off ECM on the Printer setup
Press Setup button Scroll till you find Fax Settings - Press OK Choose Rings to Answer - Set it - 6 ( based on the Rings on Answer machine ) - Press OK Check for ECM - Error Correction Mode - Press OK Turn it OFF - Press OK Check for Auto Answer option - Turn it ON too.
To change the number of rings enter Feature 983, if your system has 2 digit intercom #s your password is 120000 if your system has 3 digit intercom #s your password is 1020000. once you have entered the password you will see 3 selections you can make .use the three soft keys under the display and select AA (auto Attendant).
The 3 soft key selections GRTG, TABLE, and LINES
Press the LINES soft key
Enter the line number on the line you want to change ringing on (probably Line 1) and press OK
Press the TABLE soft key then the RINGS soft key
Press the CHNG soft key and enter in the amount of rings you wantand press OK
Press the NEXT key to go to the next line
Repeat the procedure for the remaining lines
Press Rls when finished
As far as changing the # of rings, that may be your phone company. Feature 983 will get you in to change to number of rings. It goes as follows:
System coordinator mailbox # and password
Enter Line Number
Enter the desired number of rings
If after changing the number of rings the Auto atendant does not pick up at all, You have to call your phone company and set up the second delay through them. We had the same problem here.
