I have a Dell Axim X5, PPC 2002, CA IS 2007, XP, 2003 Office Outlook, ActiveSync 4.5. Can't complete a sync with Notebook? Is it a firewall problem? Is it an ActiveSync version issue? I use CA Internet Security 2007. I'm using the Dell cradle w/USB connection. Any ideas?

What is your device? Windows?

If windows install the Active Sync and then plug the USB for PDA.

PS: Active sync is a Microsoft software to sync PDA with PC!

Difficulty uploading photos from phone to pc

What difficulties are you having?
If you have installed HTC Sybc on your PC and then connect your phone, you can go through the setup procedures to tell it you want to sync your pictures, music, contacts, calendar and so on. You have to tell it in the software what you want to synchronise or it won't do it.
When you connect the phone, you must select HTC Sync and it should start copying things to the PC.
When it is finished, you will have to go looking for the pictures! Mine appeared in a folder: "C:\Users\ThisUser\Documents\My Photos\Device Camera Shots\100MEDIA" which took some finding!
So go into My Documents and see the folder called My Photos...have a look there.

How do you get the upgrade the htc hero to 2.1

Getting Started

Before you run the ROM Update Utility (RUU), make sure you have done the following:

  • Backed up the data on your device.
  • Standby or hibernation mode of your PC has been disabled.
  • Close all running applications on the PC.
  • Set aside approximately 25 minutes to allow the device to update.
  • Charged the battery to at least 30%.
  1. Download HTC Sync for Android.

Install the HTC Sync software on your PC if it is not already installed. This software was included in your HTC Hero gift box. The minimum required HTC Sync version is 2.0.28. We have HTC Sync for Android 2.0.40 available for download; newer versions might be available from www.htc.com.

HTC Sync for Android 2.0.40 (39MB)

  2. Download the Hero 2.1 MR Upgrade executable file.

    Hero 2.1 Upgrade (113MB)

  3. Connect your HTC Hero to your PC.

    Use the supplied USB cable.

If the HTC Sync application appears on the screen of your PC, you may simply dismiss the wizard by pressing the Cancel button.

  4. Run the Hero 2.1 MR Upgrade RUU file.

Follow the on-screen prompts to install the update for your HTC Hero
WARNING: During the upgrade process, do not attempt to make/receive calls, press any buttons on your device or disconnect the device from the USB cable as this will stop the update and your device may be rendered inoperable!

If you have a problem with the connection between your device and PC be sure to check the connection type in your device. This can be done in the device via Settings -> Connect to PC. Ensure that HTC Sync is selected.

My new afterglow controller won't sync but turns on, it is wired.

If by not syncing you mean it flashes the whole ring when you plug the controller in the USB and won't identify? If so I think the problem may be that you have other USB devices plugged in at the same time. Unplug all the USB and plug the controller in by itself. I've had issues with this for awhile myself. I had a bluetooth and another wireless kb/mouse. So I unplugged everything tried it by itself and it seems to identify perfectly.

Conclusion: Unplug all the USB devices and plug the Afterglow 360 controller by itself and that should solve the problem. =)

Window Vista syncronizing with iPAQ 3835 problem

In order to sync any iPAQ with Windows Vista, you will need to download and install Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/device-center-download.mspx.

Activesync will only work for XP Operating Systems and earlier.
Notes
  • To find out whether your version of Windows Vista or Windows 7 is 32-bit or 64-bit, click Start, right-click Computer, and then click Properties. The version is listed after System Type.
  • You can use Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 only with phones running Windows Mobile 2003 or later. ActiveSync and Windows Mobile Device Center won’t work with Windows Embedded CE 4.2 or 5.0, Pocket PC 2002, or Smartphone 2002 devices. (To see which Windows Mobile operating system you’re using, and if your phone doesn’t have a touch screen, click Start > Settings > About. If your phone has a touch screen, click Start > Settings > System tab > About.) To sync content to any of these devices, you must use a USB or serial cable and your computer’s Internet connection and File Explorer.
  • You must use Microsoft Outlook 2002, Outlook 2003, or Office Outlook 2007 to sync your e-mail, contacts, tasks, and notes from your computer.
  • You must use a USB cable to connect your phone to your computer the first time you use Windows Mobile Device Center to sync.
