Sounds like an internal issue. I suggest reformatting the HDD by going to the settings menu. But before you reformat I strongly suggest you create a backup of your data because everything will be erased. You can create the backup through the settings menu as well.
i will turn on my ps3 it goes to the main screen shows but the game cd doesn't show so i will have to eject an put it in and it would start playing but it will keep freezing then when i'm playing i will beat a level then freeze so it want save every time
open your PS3 up and use a dust cleaner to blow the dust off!it could be overheating. and if that works next time you play pull it out of a confined place and when youre done wrap it in a towel and put if where it should be to prevent dust getting in
I just bought a used one today and took me a little while to get it to work. Plug the USB receiver in and turn on the PS3. Press the Mode button and the lights will flash repeatedly at a fast rate (it's searching for the receiver). When it finds the USB receiver, the lights will still flash, but slower than before. When they're doing this, press the mode button again, and that should be all that you have to do. You can also plug the receiver in USB slot one, the charge cable in slot 2, and do the steps to set it up to make it work while charging. (I tried taking the receiver out while charging, and the lights started flashing again so I guess the USB receiver has to be in at all times)
