Where can I get a picture/diagram of what the charging port on the samsung galaxy prevail should look like?

I have a hard time keeping the cables working. Try changing the cable out. Also try holding the cable and putting slight pressure upwards on the bottom of the connector. The charging symbol has to be on if it is charging.

If it's loose it is probably broken away from the internal circuit board. A common problem. People accidentally knock the plug sideways and they only have fragile connections.
Get a technician to resolver if possible or take to Samsung repair centre.

Samsung has charging port issues with every single Android model out there. Once out of a thousand times a master reset will correct this issue. My advice would to be call your carrier's warranty dept, if you've had it under a year. If it has been more than 1 year, call Samsung. Some of their equipment have extended warranties on them. 1-800-726-7864

I would check the connection to the phone make sure it was not damaged and I would try a different outlet or a new charger before having to send your phone back ...

1) You have corrosion in the charging port and it is shorting it out. Remove battery and clean inside port hole with alcohol and a long bristle brush.

2) The charging port needs to me resoldered. That is a daily repair for my shop. the TWO OUTTER pins are the ones that do the charging the middle are for USB. Just reflow the solder, sometimes they have a crack in them where they bend down to solder into the board. in that case you will have to use a super fine wire to jump the pins where they are broken and solder them to the board. Not for everyone and you need magnification super small iron and flux to relow the solder. never add solder just reflow it with flux. i charger $25 in my shop.

i have the galaxy prevail and it had been to where it wouldn't charge at all then i thought i had fixed the problem because it charged last night but tonight its not wanting to charge at all and im using the same cord and i have tried 4 different cords and none of them charged it
can anyone suggest something that'll help?

I am sorry this question was asked twice and was answered earlier. However you may check the charging pin, clean and check for dirt, and also reset phone by removing battery for some time , clean contacts and reset once again.

It will be best to get in touch with Samsung support near to your place as the correct estimate for the original part can be obtained. Normally the estimation is done free of charge and it can be confirmed before you attempt to replace it elsewhere.
