Go to the CMOS setup of your motherboard. to do it turn on your computer, and it will display in your screen to press a certain key such as del or f1 or f10 key to access the CMOS setup. once inside the CMOS setup, look for the enable USB controller. enable the USB controller then waaala. your USB controller is now working.

If you have checked the bios to see if usb is enabled, and the problem is happening on all usb ports, the usb controller circuit is damaged. Try a PCI usb card and that should get you going

Most Asus motherboards by default have the USB ports enabled in the bios.
Buy the item, Y adapter below to bypass the PS/2 keyboard port on the motherboard; http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat_id=1538&sku=27225
You should be able to enter the bios using a USB port. Or buy a single PS/2 to USB; http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat_id=1538&sku=35700

The problem is probably not software, but hardware. The BIOS probably has disabled the USB controller, or the USB controller has probably gone out, the way to tell is when you restart the computer, when the screen first comes up, press the DEL key to access the CMOS setup utility. Check around for something that says "Onboard USB Controller" or "Onboard USB Support" and if it is disabled, enable it. otherwise the Motherboard has lost the controller and you either replace the board, or get a USB controller PCI addon card. Hope that helps.

Ga-6vxd7 keyboard wont work to boot from cd

Hi,
Plug the USB keyboard into another port (preferably one at the back) restart the PC and enter the BIOS again, this time go through the BIOS and set all the USB controllers to enabled, hit F10 save the changes and exit the bios. The computer will restart and you should now be able to use the USB keyboard to install the OS.
Please post back if you need anymore advice.

Good luck
