Question about Maytag Neptune MLE2000A Front Load Stacked Washer / Dryer

4 Answers

MAytag MLE2000A I have a stackable Neptune series Washer /dryer. It started by just tuning istself off during a cycle. You could open the door and full of water then restart to complete. Has gotten worse, not it seems to do it at every rinse number 1, 2, 3 - sometimes but not all the time. Also the bleach and fabric softner are full of water - will not drain - sometimes. I called the dealer and got A&E repair. They replaced the timer. It did not fix the problem. it still start a cycle , goes to 1, 2, or 3 rinse - "on light" deenergizes, the door look goes off after a few seconds. Can restart by pressing the "on" buttom. This really seams to not be repeatable all the time. A&E will be coming back Monday. Also the new times is rather noisy??? TXS Len

I received a new timer, third one, in the mail last week. I poped it in the machine myself - easy! It stopped like always on the 1st rinse number. I removed that timer and replaced the other. I called A&E again - same repairman. He installed the timer and it went through the regular cycle non stop. Egg on my face! I said thanks sent him on his way. I proceeded to wash a load of cloths. Guess what - it stopped on ONE again. Catriver I show him you response and he pulled out the schamatic inside the machine and told me your solution was not possible. I've washed a few more loads today. In the reg or permanent press cycles it still stops some or all the time on each number. I called the dealer I purchase it from and he recommended a local repaiman. He is coming Monday. Stay tuned. This A&E repairman gave me a lecture about Internet assistance???? TXS Len

Tellico, they had a problem with this model where it would lose the nuetral feed to the motor control. The nuetral is routed through the fill valves. The washer would just stop and shut off randomly. Have the tech check the white harness to the valves. Make sure they all have a good crimp. Sounds like you could be losing your nuetral...Catriver.. post back

Len, sounds like the guy knows what he's talking about, bully for him, chully for me. Well you've gone through 3 timers and the problem is still not fixed. You can check the nuetral feed to the timer by testing the voltage on 10B, white wire on the connector. This is the direct contact to the nuetral leg in the timer. Test it when you have this failure. Just take it to ground, should read 120V. If the voltage is ok, the problem could be in the control board. The timer and control board are communicating with each other. Regarding my first post, Maytag put out a service bullitin regarding the loss of the nuetral leg. Model ending in AYW. Have the local tech check the balance switch for proper operation. If the control see's it tripped, it will stop the machine. Let me know how you make back.

We'll I got a second Maytag repairman. Tihs one called the factory to discuss. He showed up with a controlled board and mixing valve manifold. Looks like it was the manifold. My question now is that I'm on well water and do have a high iron content. Is this going to be a continuing problem??? The repair man said it should not be - they are designed for both city and well water. I suspect a deposit layer was on the sensor in the manifold - thus not making a contection therefore the internittent problem.... TXS

Catriver, Another Lonely Maytag repair showed today. Different guy (15 years experience working on Maytag) recommended by the folks I purchased the unit. He diagonsed the controller board. He said he had see this unit several times he popped the top and took a look. I told him of the neutral problem as you suggested - he said he had not encounter this on this unit before but will check it when he puts in the board. I'll post next week the results and I'll go look for the service bulliten. Can I get to it on the web? TXS

Maytag neptun tub doesnt spin during spin cycle

The spin enable switch located on the door lock assembly is the most suspect failed part. Sometimes there are one or more sensors connected to the out of balance circuit that can cause a no spin condition. Lastly if your serial number qualifies, you will need a motor conversion kit as this failure can cause a no spin issue. Pleazer Appliance...

Hello, can you determine if your machine shutsdown in the rinse cycles? If it does then the cause is probably the water inlet screens are clogged with debris. See Neptune Help FAQ #8 for more help.

I would be concerned about your door latch wax motor ( part # 12002535) though... See Neptune Help for more information about replacing the faulty wax motor with brown colored actuator tip before it damages your machine control board. When the wax motor shorts out it will blow the Q6 triac and then the R11 resistor will burn and your door probably won't lock anymore as indicated by the door locked light not coming on. The next thing you will notice is that your clothes will be soaking wet after the wash cycle because the spin cycle will not work if the door does not lock...

Your machine control board is located above the dryer on the right side.

Every Maytag Neptune front loader with a timer knob (non digital) has a wax motor and all of them shipped with faulty one except the later 2000 series stacker models. You should proactively replace the wax motor with the new design (with black tip) to prevent the Q6 R11 failure on the control board. If you're too late you can try the STAGE 1 repair kit at the same site above.

To inspect your door latch wax motor on the stackers you:

  • Unplug machine
  • Remove the (2) screws holding center panel and remove panel
  • Remove the (1) center screw holding the top panel located inside compartment above washer
  • Remove the top panel to expose the door latch assembly

    I hope this helps you.

You most likely have a bad (lock wax motor) that can also cause the main control board to go bad. the lock motor sits above the washer door behind the panel. the control board sits inside the dryer above the drum to the right. go here to look up your parts

Stops mid cycle, won't spin

You need to check and see if the door-lock light is on ,if not then you have either a faulty door lock mech. or a defective solid state board in the control panel

Washer powers down during wash cycles

It is most likely a very slow fill problem ,either the cold or hot water supply is restricted and the machine cannot sense the right water temp. and will shut down .

Machine cannot wash properly with a small amount of water.

Ckeck ,the screens in the water valve or at the hoses at the top where the faucets are ,clean them or replace them but never leave them out .
