Try using Fn keys to adjust, otherwise check the setting and control panel applications. Could be something wrong with your power plans as well.

So, if they are mad, your applications will go in the trash. Or, if they are reasonable, they will return it for correction or they will accept it as is. What is the question???

If you are concerned, you should be calling Kerala not posting on this repair web site. You live in India?

Still. thanks for visiting today.

Auto Reboot On System Crash
http://www.theeldergeek.com/auto_reboot_on_system_crash.htm
By default, when the Windows XP operating system
crashes an automatic reboot of the system occurs. While this behavior can be convenient, the downside is the error message accompanying the crash is not visible. Often times this information can be a great help in troubleshooting the source of the crash. This behavior can be modified in two ways; via the registry or using the System Properties property sheet.

OR
Try if this works.
If you have not made any hardware changes...........
and
If you have another power supply laying around and
if
you are comfortable swapping out power supplys.
do that real quick and see if it boots.

Dual core issue

If you are able to start the application, press control+alt+delete to bring up the task manager window. Find the application in task manager, right click on it, and left click "Set Affinity". Now, remove one of the checks so that the process is only allowed to run on one processor core.

How to make sure that both cores are working on intel core 2 e6300 1.86ghz

The fastest way to check is to open Windows Taskmanager (Ctrl-Shift-Esc) and look at the performance tab.
Now open a processor intensive application (Firefox, Photoshop, etc.) and you will see if both cores are utilized.

Note that the load often is not distributed evenly, so one core might have a higher load than the other, but still you should see them both working.

One of my favorite tools is "SIW" (System Information for Windows), which gives you a lot of information about your system (link).
One thing I really like is that it is a standalone utility which does not require installation and can run from an USB flash drive. Look under Hardware/Sensors to see the temperature of your cores - they should be about the same.

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

Sometimes a problem like that is not related to the keyboard, but to the operating system itself. Hit Control + Shift+Esc keys to bring up the task manager. Click the "Processes" tab and look in the CPU column for excessive CPU use... anything more than 50% .Look to the left and find the program is that is causing the problem. This should give you a start for diagnosis. Average CPU use should run about 2-20%. You can read this at the bottom of the Task Manager. Constant CPU % running higher than this denotes a problem.

Want to up grade my cpu and ram to improve speed and program use.

Question#1 is my current processor duel core or single core , how can I know?

Intel Celerons are Single Core. You can also download and run CPUID (free) from http://www.cpuid.com/ No installation needed either , just run it!

Question#2 What kind of duel core processor in combination with new ram should I install?

I dont think your computer supports dual core. I cannot be sure without you giving me the make and model of the motherboard. Besides , a 3.33ghz Celeron D is a great processor!!!!

Memory - See http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Presario%20SR2150NX you can have a max of 2gb. You have 2 slots on the motherboard so its 1 gb per slot and the board takes DDR2 PC2-5300.

Here , you can expand to your max of DDR2 PC2-5300 2gb (2x1gb) for $24 and theres free shipping too!!!

PC is frozen when I press WIN-key

Do you see the Hard Disk Light ON during the time your computer is frozen? If that is the case there maybe an issue with the Hard Disk Controller.

When you installed a new version of Windows XP, did you format your entire Hard disk? (Just to make sure that your computer doesn't have a viral infection?)

Also, is it that the computer freezes when you press Alt+Enter ...or is it like the computer freezes after you press the Windows Key and then Alt+Enter?

Have you tried the Alt+Tab Combination?
