Installing 2GB of memory in my Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro V2020
I have bought 2GB of RAM for my laptop in 1 card. I need to install and have read that this is the maximum memory usable for this laptop. Should I remove the 512MB memory or simply add my new card in the available slot? I have also read that each slot can only take 1GB RAM. What are the implications of adding a 2GB card in one slot?

It's the shared memory for the Integrated graphics card, your RAM shares memory to the graphics card, and you are using a lot. If you want more memory, enter BIOS and there should be something about shared memory, and put it at 256 MB or so.
yes, there may be compatibility problem. your 2GB ram may be dead. try your 2gb ram on other notebooks. if it is working on other notebooks, then your ram is ok. your notebook will support maximum 2GB ddr2 memory per slot. your notebook may not be booting due to unsupported frequency of your ram. maximum supported frequency for your notebook may me 400Mhz, and you are putting a 667MHz ram into it. try to put a 400MHz 2GB ddr2 ram in your notebook.

If I knew what HP laptop computer this was, such as the Product Number, and I knew what Ram Memory you are installing, I could help you further.
On the bottom of the laptop is a white Service Tag. P/N = Product Number (S/N = Serial Number. Do Not give this out online, except to HP Support)
If your problem does not regard Ram Memory, please disregard this solution.
