How do i improve in math

Math and math, not easy for most of us. What you can do is take the method/work you did in the second quarter and find out where in the learning prosess things got difficult. When you have done that, then you know what you are able to do and what not.
Start a bit before where you stopped and work your way through the methods you did not master.. If you have an access to a math teacher he could help you categorise the methods. It is best to start where you do the work without a problem and progress to the more complicated things.
good luck

    A pair of running shoes costs $5.00 more than a pair of regular tennis shoes. The total cost for both is $115 Find the price of the regular tennis shoes

    You will never learn any mathematics if you do not solve math problems. I am here to do your homework. I will however help you set the problem up.
    1. Define variables (unknowns).
    2. Let t be the price of the tennis shoes
    3. Let r be the price of running shoes.
    Translate the text into mathematical expressions
    A pair of running shoes costs 5$ more than a pair of tennis shoes
    5 $ more ---> ... +5
    Cost of a pair of running shoes (r) = cost of a pair of tennis shoes (t) +5
    So the first statement can be expressed as r=t+5

    The total cost of both ------> Sum of the costs r+t
    The total cost of both is 115 $ ------> r+t=115

    Now you have a system of two linear equations in two unknowns
    ( r=t+5
    )
    (r+t=115
    There are a few methods to solve the system (comparison, substitution, or combination/addition/elimination). I gave the 3 possible names for the third methods.
    Choose a method and solve the system to find t and r.
    Note: Although all three methods, if carried out correctly, will give you the same solution (t,r), one of them should be preferred. It is worthwhile to recognize immediately which method should be favored depending on the system you are dealing with.

    What does f(x) means?

    This is a mathematical notation for a function of a variable x.
    Let there be two quantities say the number of hours worked per week (x) and the salary you get paid (y).
    The number of hours you work is the independant variable. The salary paid is the dependant variable.
    For each amount of hours you work, your boss calculates the salary that is owed you at the end of the week. The method your boss uses to calculate your salaray is the function.
    Symbolically, this can be represented as
    Salary ($)=f(hours vorked) or
    y=f(x)

    For example: if the hourly rate is 8$/h and you work 35h then what is owed you is
    35h*8$/h=280$
    If you work more hours you will get more pay and if less hours, less pay
    The rule is y=8*x

    The product of two 2-digit numbers is 1938. If the product of their unit's digit is 28 and that of their ten's digit is 15, find the numbers.

    For solving this type of problem trial and error method is easy.We can solve this problem using trial and error method.

    There are two two digits number.Product of their units place is 28,which means only possibility is 7 and 4

    Now product of tens place number is 15.Possibility is 3 and 5

    so numbers can be 37,54 or 57,34.

    By multiplying these numbers we can see that our required solution is 57 and 34
