Question about Light Outboard Motor Boat Bass Fishing Saltwater Base
Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Offhand your description "engine cut out" could only indicate two possibilities:
A way of verifying spark presence in the plug(s) would be to remove one of the plugs, connect back the sparkplug wire and let it lay on any metal part of the engine, switch on and start. There should be a noticeable spark jumping on the electrode of the plug. If none, then the problem is narrowed down to the ignition system which could include the ignition coil, ignition module and the trigger pulse coil. Of the 3, most likelihood to be faulty would be the ignition module. Still, the coil could be tested with a continuity/VOM tester, same with the pulser. In some instances, it could just be the wire connected to the engine ON/OFF.
If there is spark, then we go back to fuel; is it reaching the combustion chamber at the right time and air/fuel mix.
Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.
