Question about Dryers

1 Answer

I have a broken blower blade I want to remove from Kenmore dryer.

I have a Kenmore 600 electric dryer. The blower blade is broken. I would like to remove it from it's housing if possible. It is larger than the opening. I have not yet detached it from the motor. There are 3-4 nuts attaching the housing to the frame, but how can you access them with the blade on?

You cannot remove the blower intact with the motor. The motor has to be accessed from the front the motor shaft has to be held still with vise grips and then the blower has to be twisted off. This repair is trickey and should be done by a service tech.

Have a kenmore electic dryer just changed out the heating element about 2 months ago dryer is not heating up properly taking 2 times to dry a load of clothes

check for a blockage in the evacuation hose (four inch tubing)
also, check to make sure the blower blades are turning (they can wear out and slip on the motor shaft). assuming the new element is still good, it is probably a blocking of air flow which will inhibit drying properly. or the blower fan blades are broken or worn. good luck. jay

Dryer is hot, clothes arnt getting dry. blower? less that 1 year old Kenmore

Remove the vent hose from the dryer and dry a load of clothes . If they dry , then dryer is pushed too far back , kinking vent hose , or the vent from the dryer to the outside is blocked somewhere . A dryer either heats or doesn't heat (except for maytag associated dryers ) in which the blower wheel could be stripped out . But Kenmores don't have blower problems .

Remove blower wheel

Put a good fittting wrench on the blower nut and hit it with an impact wrench(left handed threads righty lucy). OR do it the tried and true redneck way get a friend to hold a pipe wrench on the pulley inside the dryer, around the back slide a small hammer handle or piece of wood in between two blower blades at 3 o'clock position and slam downwards to pop that mutha loose. The threads are left handed(backwards). That blower does not wanna go easy.

Kenmore 64942300 Electric Dryer runs, no heat

This may seem too simple of an answer based on your extensive troubleshooting thus far, but the most common reason for cold air running of any electric dryer is a broken heater coil. This is simply a coil of wire that is heated to warm the air in the fan duct. These often overheat and break if the vent duct is blocked, too long, or has odd bends that can restrict flow. Recommend replacing heater coil and use smooth wall vent pipe. Avoid coil type flexible duct.
