Screen wont stay on

I power on the screen, it turns on for about a second or two then it turns back off. I do it over and over, and still get the same response.

We have already noticed that the cables are securely connected?
If yes may be the graphics card! if you have a friend who can lend to test was the best. Or try with another monitor

The screen will turn on for a split second then turn to black. Each time the poet button is pushed the same thing happens but does not stay on. The power button stays green but black screen.

There are lights on the back of the Dell that tell you a little more. Dell has an extensive list of trouble shooting procedures at http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/SYSTEMS/dim3100/en/sm/adtshoot.htm#wp1124478
Hope this information will help.

Comuter will not stay in standby mode.

So why do you need the computer in stand-by mode anyway? My computers are either on or off. Off saves power and hardware.

Turns on but no boot

I had this happen sometimes after a windows update/reboot.
If the computer is on, hold down the power button until it cuts off.
Unplug the power cord. Wait for a couple of minutes.
Plug the cord back in, and turn on system.

Monitor goes on and off

it sounds like your monitor is on it's last leg. I would try a different monitor, and if the symptoms persist check out your screensaver/power settings and your video card drivers.

Computer monitor wont stay on

LMAO it sounds like it is going into power-saving mode because there is (or it -thinks- there is) no signal. Has it always done this? Try punching up the controls when you turn it on and changing its behavior through those menus. Doublecheck the monitor's connection to the computer. Alternately, if it is connected and a display is coming up for those 10 seconds; perhaps just going into sleep mode, with the power LED changing appropriately; you can look up the exact model, and find schematics and previously solved instances of your case.
Even if you can't find those, you could read through some introductory electronic circuit books (and the internals of the monitor...unplug and read the books' safety bits first) and determine what went bad and how to replace that component.
