Change outboard motor from manual to electric start

What parts will I need ( part Nos) ?
Can I use earlier model yamaha second/hand parts? If so,what earlier
models? And would the s/h earlier model parts have the same part Nos
as the 2007 motor?
I can procure an after market starter motor, solenoid and wiring. It`s the ring-gear assembly I`m most concerned about.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.
The outboard motor I want to change is a :

SOURCE: Missing operators manual for Evinrude 2 hp outboard motor

Your best bet is ebay for a replacement user manual. Take a look around, you will come across one... For the meantime, gas oil ratio should be 50 parts gas to 1 part oil, i.e. 50:1. General care: Dont go full throttle for any length of time. Cruise of 3/4 throttle... Always flush engine after use in saltwater, including washing down exterior. Keep spark plugs in good order and check prop for fishing line wrapped around in near the prop hub. Otherwise, get a yearly service and have them check the water pump and replace as needed, get it tuned etc and gearbox oil changed.

save yourself some money and go get a lawn mower solenoid and find a way to mount it yourself. I have done a johnson outboard and a tigershark jet ski this way with no problems.

My 30 year old Yamaha 75 HP outboard motor won't start despite new plugs, clean fuel and a fully charged battery. Why is this so?

Spare plug, remove spark plug cap and insert spare plug in cap. Place on metal part engine and swing engine, you are looking for a spark at plug . Do not hold plug, if electrics fine it will give you a nasty kick whispichbyou will remember. If no spark then electrics need investigating.

What type of petrol is needed for a yamaha outboard motor horsepower 8?

reg unleaded gas.

You haven't specified as to its year of manufacture, so if its older, as in a 2 stroke, it'll be a mix of gas and outboard oil.

If its a newer model, a 4 stroke, it'll be injected(Gas and oil seperate)

If you are totally unsure, Consult your owners manual and if you have none, then any Yamaha dealer can use the serial # off the motor to establish any specs on it for you.

Happy boating.

2001 yamaha 175 hpdi wont charge above 12.4v at high rpm. only 11.8 at idle. all connections to batteries are clean and tight, both batteries are good only some what discharged at this point from the lack...

You have two components for the charging systems. Stator and Rectifier regulator. As a rule of thumb we always change both. First you need to confirm that the outboard is not charging your batteries. use a battery load tester on your batteries confirm you have no dead cells. Second with a fully charged battery, multi-meter, and a water hose connected to your outboard cooling system. third for a picture and diagram of the ignition system go to www.yamaha-motor.com. click on outboard motors, parts and service, view parts catalog. find your year make and model by following steps listed at top. search electrical 1,2,3 until you find a RECTIFIER & REGULATOR ASSY. Click on generator to find the stator. when you find it you will have a picture reference. Check for good ground at the Rect/reg. the stator creates AC voltage the rect/reg converts to DC. rect/reg conects to the battery to charge it through a solenoid on the engine. Connect your multimeter to this solenoid to get the true reading from charging system. start engine check voltage through all rpm ranges. 13.5 v thru 15 v. The other troubleshooting test and disasembly will require a Manual. also to remove the stator you'll have to remove the flywheel.Clymer Service manuals are available through your local outboard dealer. good luck
