Question about HP Office Equipment & Supplies

I have a photosmart 2610 printer which was going well until the message came up "remove and check colour cartridge". I did this and it continues and continues to give the message. I put another new cartridge in which was not HP and it still does it. Can anyone help

    Thanks S88. I carried out your instructions and when I turned it on again, the same message comes up. All my outgoings for Christmas are no longer possible but thank you anyhow for the advice. The contacts were really clean but I cleaned them with metho and waited until they dried. I'll have to find a repairer somewhere.

Hi Lapidary,
The contacts in the printer could be dirty. Where the cartridge fits in , there should be some copper contact points. Remove the colour cartridge and pull the power. Use some alcohol and clean the contacts (and also those on the cartridge just in case). Give it a few moments for the alcohol to dry. Put in the cartridge and turn on printer.

I suggest you run the 'Tap 10' diagnostic test pattern for your HP PS 2600 series printer model...this will display the electrical health of the ink cartridges and confirm that your printer is operational (I am guessing one of the ink cartridge control lines is open).

I have a HP PHOTOSMART 2610 all in one printer and have developed a printing problem. This printer has been working as it should up until just recently. I have been using the Walgreen's photo service...


Because is refill.When refilled a small gap is detached to make the refilling and it no longer recognize as the brand it use.

Display keeps saying check cartridge on the right i check keeps saying it put a new cartridge in still says same thing photosmart 2610


You could be getting this problem if using refilled inkjet cartridge. Try replacing cartridge and see if message clears.

the problem is the little poorly designed metal thing that is holding up the ink cartridge get's stuck between the cartridge and the printed circuit and it brakes the circuit.must have been some **** drawering on a napkin that came up with that one.wasted a nice unit for that two cent piece of metal.

I changed the black ink cartridge in my printer with an appropriate hp product. I am not able to insert the cartridge correctly in the system. It constantly reads, remove and receck cartridge on right. I have purchased two ink cartridges at this time. Do you think the printer is broken? Please respond.

Black printing morphs into red after black ink cartridge installation


Your printer creates it's black by using ALL the colours together. This effectively gives a very dark purple rather than black.

It sounds like you have a colour cart that is drying up or may be struggling to get enough air into the cartridge. Make sure you have removed any tape over the vent holes if you are using compatible inks. If not then try running a couple cleaning cycles via the button panel/driver.

If you alter the settings in the driver by going into START - PRINTERS AND FAXES and then right click on your 2610 and select PROPERTIES - the changes you make in here will be set as the default settings for each print job.
