Here are a few suggestions to help you with this problem:
It is possible that the battery contacts are corroded so you might try expecting the contacts and cleaning them. Since you cannot see if the IR signal is being sent, you can use another IR remote that you know works and see if you can Jam the signal of the working remote with your Hql-260wr remote. To do this, push the volume up button on the TV remote and hold it down while at the same time using the known working remote to control its companion product. If the working unit stops responding correctly when the volume button is pressed, it is transmitting an IR signal.
In this case, since you confirmed that the remote is transmitting, you can make sure that you are on the correct device settings for the remote. If you select the TV setting for instance, see if the remote now can control the TV. The main functions to try first are volume and channel buttons.
If this does not work, you will need to find out where the IR receiver is on the TV and make sure that the receiver lens is not blocked by something such as another device like a video console, etc.
Hi, we had that problem the first two days we purchased our set. Fortunately they replaced it with no problem. I hope you purchased an extended warranty, Coby is out of business but warranties are still being honored...I don't know of a fix for this..Basically the Coby is a dud..I wish you the best! let us know how it turns out..
For a universal remote, it will have setup codes for your TV brand. you have to synchronise the remote control and TV with that setup codes. There are some proceedings. Visit this site to get more details. Check this site for more details. "Electro-help" is the site name.
Search it by google search. You
can locate it, either at the bottom of the first search page, or at the top of
the second. It is an electronics
equipments repair help site in English. Check the remote control for its infrared emission first. You can get details about how to check a remote control too from this site. If your remote control is OK, the possiblility is the fault with the remote signal sensor inside the TV. You have to replace it. You can gather these details also from the above mentioned site.
It could be due to a few reasons, but we'll start with the easiest and the obvious. First I would check your batteries. Change them with some new ones. If that's not the problem, I would clean the IR transmitter on the remote and the IR receiver on the tv. Anything past that may require purchasing a replacement remote.
There is a very strong chance that something foreign has gotten into the touch membrane for your remote control or the link from the touch pad to the circuit board. If it is still under warranty, get it replaced. If it is not under warranty a new universal remote may be on your next shopping list. Repairs to OEM remote controls cost more than a new one.
