E68 = Turn off system, take hard drive off, put hard drive back on, turn system back on.

I don't know about E79

XBOX 360 Error Codes

There are several error codes you can get with an XBOX 360, the first step to resolving any problem is finding the root cause. The fault codes are primarily shows on the "ring" on the front of your console (this is the ring split into 4 segments that shows when controllers are connected and what player position they are).

  • 1 SEGMENT FLASHING RED - Thisindicates a displayable error code, the specific error code will bebeing displayed on the TV you have it connected too.
  • 2 SEGMENTS FLASHING RED - The console has overheated.
  • 3 SEGMENTS FLASHING RED - This is the somewhat infamous RROD (Red Ring Of Death).
  • 4 SEGMENTS FLASHING RED - AV cable not detected.

If you have 1 segment flashing red indicating a displayable specific error code then you can identify the fault from the list below.

  • E45 - Update Error.
  • E64, E65, E66 - DVD Drive Error.
  • E67, E68, E69, E79 -Hard Drive Error.
  • E71 - Update Error.
  • E72 - Unknown.
  • E73 - General Hardware Error.
  • E74 -AV cable error.
  • E76 - Unknown.
This is a basic overview of all the fault codes for the XBOX 360, for more in depth information on the faults and how to repair them please see my other tips!

Thanks!

How do i fix x-box 360 e79 error permanently

Error code E79 on an Xbox 360 means you may have a faulty hard drive. This may be due to the hard drive not being connected correctly and can be fixed in a few steps. If, after following troubleshooting steps, the error does not resolve itself, you may need to purchase a new xbox 360 hard disk.

What does E79 code mean?

E79 is an harddrive error, it may be with the memory unit its self or an internal problem, try removing the harddrive and play a game without it.
Remember thumbs up if this is what you wanted to know.

<a href="http://xbox-experts.com/errorcodes.php">http://xbox-experts.com/errorcodes.php</a> for the error code list <br /> <br /> e68 <br /> This error occurs when your harddrive is defective, it might still work sometimes.... It can also happen because of a bad eeprom or a wrong security sector. It can also be a problem with the internal connection of the harddrive to the mainboard...According to XBH: Hard drive not DMA configured<br /> <br /> <br /> e73 <br /> This error is caused by a cold solder joint under the GPU, (H)ANA-chip or in between.<br />Mostly it is one of the outer solder balls on the side facing the (H)ANA chip so a shim increases the chanced of success quite a bit.<br />Can also be a component that is missing or damaged so look for missing parts near the GPU and the (H)ANA chip.<br /> <br /> <br /> e79<br /> This error occurs when your harddrive is defective, it might still work sometimes....<br />There is also a small chance that it is a cold joint under the Southbridge causing problems with the I/O of the HDD.<br />It can also be related to wiring the diodes while JTAGGING.<br />Couldn't start xam.xex<br />

Bought a new hard drive for the xbox 360 ,and after running the upgrade all I get when I turn it on is a system error and a red light flashing on the console

Take a look at the screen you should find a number for the error code there like E80 or E79.
If it is E80 this means that the update went wrong and that the consoles kernel wasnt flashed completely.
This can often be fixed with an NXE update recovery disc, search for it on Google, you can download it from Xbox.com.

If you are getting an error like E67, E68 ,E69, E79 or something similar it will be harddrive related very likely, disconnect the harddrive and try to power the console if the problem is gone get a harddrive replacement, call Xbox Support they will take care of that...

If you should be getting a different error code take a look at this error code list this will tell you whats causing this certain error and how it can be fixed: http://xbox-experts.com/e/errorcodes.php

I hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

Nooooo

Here is what I found for error code e79:
E79: Hard Drive Error... It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it.
According to tmbinc: E79 is the error code if xam.xex could not be started, i.e. probably a file system corruption.
You might want to get in touch with microsoft and see what they suggest to fix this problem. Here is a link to their support site:
