The battery may not be fully charged here is a simply fix use a toothbrush and clean the contacts on the battery and on the computer itself, check also that the blower vents are not blocked and you have good air flow.try again time it see how long it last.Failing that you might have a failing battery.
Good luck

Dell Xps 15 Laptop Battery Not Charging

If your battery will not charge, you need to run a test on some components on the laptop. The battery, the charger and the laptop itself. Once you detect the faulty conponent then you replace it with a new one.

To test the battery:
1.Power off the laptop,
2.Take out the battery,
3.Insert it in another laptop,
4.Check of it will charge,

If the battery holds a charge there, then it means the problem is not from the battery, but if it does not hold a charge, then it means the battery is defective and need to be replaced with a new one.

To test the charger:
1.Unplug the charger from the present laptop,
2.Connect it to another laptop to see if it will charge.

If it charges the laptop, then it means the charger is alright, and if it does not charge the laptop, then it means the charger is bad and need to be replaced.

To test the laptop:
1.Turn off the laptop,
2.Disconnect your present charger,
3.Remove your present battery pack,
4.Insert a well tested battery into the laptop,
5.Connect a well tested charger to the laptop.

If it powers on, then it and charges, then it means the laptop is working fine, but if it does not charge, then it means the connection port of the laptop is bad.Hope this information was helpful.

Battery installed power shows but not charging battery, new battery and charger. thanks.

Hi

Its a common issue for DELL Laptops usually if the battery and charger are working fine the culprit is the motherboard. If its still under warranty have them replace the motherboard and it will be good as new. Thanks

DXDIAG DISPLAYS NO AUIDO HARDWARE FOUND AFTER FULL SYSTEM REBUILD, WITH CHIPSET INF INSTALLED. DELL HARDWARE TEST SAYS SOUND HARDWARE IS FINE AND MAKES SOUNDS. MODEL DELL 9100 INSPERION LAPPTOP Thanks

Check that all drivers are up to date... I had the same thing happen to me. NVidia has a newer driver that might help u out. Also unplug the laptop and remove the battery. Hit the power button a few times to ground it out.
Plug only the power cord in and open up command prompt. As administrator run a chkdsk to possibly find the problem...
For me it was the driver! Good luck

Inspiron9100 charges the battery, but does not run off it

you've got a dead cell in the battery pack. Replace the cell (there're howto's dotted around the web) or replace the battery pack.

Run MS Vista on Dell 9100

The reason they told your daughter that is because either there isn't a powerful enough CPU and enough memory to support it and also there are no vista drivers for that laptop on Dell's website.

If you decide to put vista on that laptop your going to need to make sure that whatever hardware drivers vista doesn't detect, you'll need to search on the net to find vista compatible drivers if they are out there, it will be time consuming.

My recommendation from my own experience, make sure you have at least a 2GHz processor and 1GB or memory.

Did the old one do the same thing? If true, your battery sounds like it is dead.

Acer Laptop Aspire 5050

Hi, you can do a simple check to establish which is at fault, your battery or power pack.
If your computer runs OK on the power pack then the battery is at fault. If the computer will not run on the power pack then the power pack is the cause.

Problems with Dell Inspiron 6000 Battery ? DELL Inspiron 6000 laptop battery is popular, why ?

You can also pick up the batteries less expensive than most computer places at batteries plus. And yes it sounds as though it is the batteries charge is getting low, especially if it runs fine when the battery is out and you have it plugged in.
