Question about TruTech PLV16190 Television

1 Answer

TV not activating Parental Control locks

My kids TruTech Tv has suddenly stopped blocking the channels they are not suppose to be watching. I checked the locks and they are showing that they are still on but they are obviously not working. My children can watch ANYTHING, even though the controls are set to allow only G and Y ratings. Several months back we had noticed that a couple of times they would be watching one of their shows and it would suddenly switch out and say that show was blocked, even though it shouldn't have been and they had been watching it. It would also sometimes switch back and forth from English to Spanish.

It suddenly started working again. It seems to be a hit and miss problem. When it starts again I plan to try unplugging it! Thanks!

Unplug the unit for 2 min and retry.

See if there is a factory reset in the menu.

TV power button on my RCA True Flat 27" screen TV

RCA TVs come with a child lock capability called V-Chip. It's a parental control system which allows you to block programs and films by content, age-based ratings and the ratings which come with the movies. The parental control is a code, sent by the broadcaster to your television. The V-Chip will not work if the broadcaster doesn't send the control, or if the parental controls are switched off or unlocked. The controls are set up in the TV's main menu. The default is off.
From the main menu choose "Parental Controls;" it's option six.
Choose the first option, V-Chip TV Rating Limit, and using the arrow keys and the OK button on the remote, scroll through until the TV-MA rating appears. Press the right arrow button to move the highlight over to the "Status" field and toggle to "View." Press the OK button. This will set the age-based ratings to Mature.

Red key in corner no tv signal

Your TV is locked electronically. Apex TVs have parental locks that allow you to block certain programs based on their rating. When this feature is no longer needed and you want your TV to display all programming no matter its rating, you must unlock your TV. Unlocking your Apex TV is done completely from your remote control and does not require any tools. The process takes less than 5 minutes.
• Press the "Menu" button on the remote control and use the arrow buttons to scroll down to the "Parental Guide" option, then press the "Enter" button.
Type in the default parental code "6688" if you have not set your own code. If you have set your own code, type it in. If you set your own code and forgot it, override it by using "6688."
Use the arrow keys to switch the parental lock to "OFF." This allows all programs to be viewed no matter the rating. Press the "Exit" button on the remote and start watching all your channels.
If you wish to get more details about unlock proceedings, check this link.

I cant reset parental controls

Activated by a PIN number, you can set Parental Controls on your TV and/or cable set-top box to control the programs that can be viewed on your TV. There are three ways to block programs:

  • By Channel
  • By Rating
  • By Time Period (Not available in all areas.)
The V-Chip understands television program ratings and blocks programs based upon the rating level selected. All TV sets that are 13 inches or larger are required to incorporate the V-Chip technology. Parents set rating levels so that certain TV shows need a password to be viewed. For more information on the V-Chip and program ratings visit the FCC V-Chip site.
Several cable and satellite companies offer parental control options. They allow specific channels to be blocked so that they cannot be viewed. These companies also offer the ability to block shows based on language, violence, nudity, and rating levels. This offers more flexibility than the V-Chip.

Hope it helps ;-)

    Trutech TV parental control

naughty naughty, we have been caught before!

Ask your parents to give you the password. Passwords are there to stop inquisitive kids from watching unsavoury things.

If you are an adult then use the Payable request to prove you are of age and not a child trying to subvert Mum and Dads password.

now go to your room and think about your punishment when your parents find out about this

    Truetech tv

I had the same problem with my TruTech TV after i recieved cable from Time Warner Cable. We aslo thought it was the cable but it was obviously the TV, so my boyfriend went to the options and went to change password and put 0000 or 1111 and it asked to pick a new one so he just put 0000 again as the new password then he went to V-Chip and it asked for the password and that takes you to parental control and then you just true it off and your offical back in business and youll be able to watch anything you want now
