there is a huge posibility that the electricity wasnt stable and burned your tv... ill try to find a way so you can check if it got burned... by the way.. how old is the tv? and when you mean blank.. blank as in black.. right? does it shows any kind of signs of being on when you turn it on? like lighting up a led?
Well that pop had something to do with the power components inside the TV frying. I would have to say there is nothing you can do to repair it as its dangerous to work on such things. I wouln't waste my time bringing it to a repair shop they will probably tell you to just buy a new one.
Have you check the HOT Q404?
I would suggest to check that transistor before you decide to replace the flyback. The way to know if you are getting high voltage would be to pay attention for like a charging/discharging static noise when you press the power button to turn the TV ON or OFF.
I have a HD56W58 and it had the same problem. One day the picture went blank and then it made a loud popping sound and smelled like something burning. Now it will not turn on. Has this happened to anyone else? I
If you had a burning smell, well the board is toast. These sets are made to replace the entire board at one time. Before installing the replacement module, the picture tube should be checked. A defective picture tube ( such as a G1 short) may cause a failure in the power supply section.
