Question about Acer Aspire 5050-3242 Notebook

I can't load new pics onto Windows Vista Photo Gallery anymore...

I have a ViviCam 3785 camera with a SD Impact card. I have Windows Vista on my laptop and I use to be able to load pics onto my comp. Now when I put the SD card in or plug in the USB cable and connect it to my comp, the photo gallery pops up, but it says, "Photo Gallery can't open this picture or video. This file format is not supported, or you don't have the latest updates to Photo Gallery." I checked out the updates issue and it keeps saying I do have the latest updates. Now I admit, I do not have the slightest idea as far as technical issues with comps period. I don't know what to do from this point, but like I said before it was allowing me to load pics before so I don't know what happened. Any attempt to help me on this issue would be greatly appreciated, thanks for your time and effort.

I finally figured it out. Somehow I had messed with the Autoplay settings uploading pics the last time I guess. Anyways, if you experience this problem, check this out first and see if it fixes it for you before you do anything else:

I can't load new pics onto Windows Vista Photo Gal - gl_arrow_down_static.gif What if the import dialog box doesn't appear? If the dialog box prompting you to import your pictures doesn't appear when you connect the camera to your computer, AutoPlay might be turned off. You can import your pictures using Windows Photo Gallery instead. Here's how:
1. Open Windows Photo Gallery by clicking the Start button , clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Photo Gallery.
2. On the toolbar, click File, and then click Import from Camera or Scanner.
3. In the Import Pictures and Videos dialog box, choose your camera from the list of devices, and then click I can't load new pics onto Windows Vista Photo Gal - gl_alert_vert.png /> gl_alert_vert.png gl_icon_tip.png If you prefer, you can turn on AutoPlay or set AutoPlay to automatically import pictures from a digital camera. For more information, see Change AutoPlay Settings. gl_alert_vert.png gl_alert_bg_tip.png

How do I get the photo's from the gallery/sd card into the data base of 'my photo' on the pioneer dreambook thanks Sue Mathews smathews00@yahoo.com.au

Your Dream Book should have come with a USB cable. connect the cable to your computer and the dream-book. open windows explorer and then look for the dream book under the computer drop-down button. Then look for the SD card slot on your computer and put in the sd card. Go to the sd card within windows explorer and then choose the file or files your wish to transfer and click once to turn the item dark and then right click on your mouse then choose copy or (send to dream-book) and then choose enter. Good luck and if this doesn't work out please ask again with these details.

Keeps wanting to load fax & photo gallery when I log in

Things like to plant themselves in your start-up in windows. It is getting more obscene with software as the years go on.  Both XP and Vista have similar fixes for slow start-ups.  (In XP) Go to Start-->Run a box will pop up to type in a command, *In Vista, you can type "run" in the search box at the start menu* Type "msconfig" and a system configuration utility will pop up.  Click the tab that says "start-up" and un-check the software for your photo gallery and fax software.  *and any other non-needed programs for starting up your computer

Downloading pictures onto computer

There are Three primary ways to do this...

1. use a (usualy supplied) data cable... normaly a USB cable... it connects to your computer/laptop , Use a Photo utility program to "find" the camera. You should be able to view the pics stored in the camera.

2. If the camera pics are stored on a sim card then simply put that card in a multi card reader... (very inexpensive to purchase and standard on some late model PC's) and in most cases you can pull the pics directly from the card.

3. Take the camera directly to walmart or walgreen's photo station and they usualy can pull the pics directly from it.

give me some more info and I maybe able to give detailed help...
mod# of camera and what model/make of your PC.

Can not read SD card, game pad

You need to install your camera's drivers from the disk that came with it.
Unplug your camera from the computer >> insert the camera's driver CD >> install drivers >> restart the computer >> connect your camera via USB >> a windows pop up will let you know that it has found a new device. If you don't see the pop up this means your USB port is malfunctioning and it's normally from a malfunctionnig motherboard.

If you want to connect it through your card reader I'm affraid you need to buy a new card reader that supports 2G SD card. your current card reader does not supports 2G cards.

Kind Regards
Parkook
