I also am a tech but haven't figured out how to remove the case without damaging it. The tv shuts itself off after 30-45 minutes of play. I suspect a can of component cooler will isolate the issue.

In the tires, there are plastic lugnuts. Remove the plastic lugnuts with a pair of tweezers (be careful, they are pretty brittle and tend to break). Once there, the screws to remove the tires are exposed. These are just trim, but you need to remove them to get to the screws holding the case on. Next, there should be silver screws holding the fenders on. Remove those. Now all the screws holding the case on are exposed. Once you remove the case screws, remove the two tiny screws on the back where the A/V connectors are at. Then the case just slides right off.

Car tv shuts off

I had the same problem with my Son's TV ( Disney Cars 13" TV/DVD). It would work for a few minutes and then turn off. After reading the other posts, I found one that mentioned dry solders in the flyback section. I removed the back cover, again pretty easy with the help of another post on this site. (remove the lug nuts, and then the 6 screws that hold the wheels on. With the wheels off you can remove the 1 screw per side that need to come off. In addition, ther are 2 small screws by the video out section, and the 2 more screws at the top of the back secton.) really not bad.

I labeled each of the cables, and then removed the main board.

I used a basic soldering iron and retouched each point on the power and flyback sections of the board. I did not really see anything that looked bad, but I'm technician but I have played with electronics over the years.

reassembled and it works, it has been on for an hour now.

if it was a metallic object, he has more than likely shorted something out inside the tv.. If you can open the tv, remove the object and check (and probably replace) the fuse (it will be right by where the cord goes into the tv...) then you MAY get lucky and it may work again.

Dvd is not working, tv work just fine

My grandson's Lightning McQueen dvd player was acting up. The tray would come out about a 1/4 inch and then go back in. Once I got the tip on how to remove the case, I was able to access the dvd player. You must remove all four screws from the bottom of the unit. Carefully remove the smile from the front of the tray. After that you can slide the black tabs toward the front and get to the dvd player. To remove the dvd player, first carefully disconnect all the plugs from the back of the player, better to use a needle nose pliers than to try to grasp each connector with thumb and forefinger as you might inadvertantly pull a wire out of it's connector plug.. Now on each side of the player are two detent tabs. With two small pairs of pliers or needle nose pliers, pull the detents out a little on both sides and then the dvd player will slide out. It helps if you have a third hand to pull the player while you gently pull the detents out a bit. Once out, I removed the four bottom screws and the two top ones that are under the silver tape. Lift up the top from the rear and slide back a little then off. Once the metal cover is off, you must remove the four screws that hold the plastic part of the player to the metal base of the case. I discovered that the tray had jumped off it's track, or rather was probably forced off it's track by my grandson's pulling or pushing the tray too hard. If the tray comes out manually, then the small drive belt from the slide motor is probably suspect. Replace the belt. If the belt is ok, but the slide is off it's track, then carefully pull on the sides outboard from the tray, I was able to put the tray back on it's track. It's a small white pin or tab that rides inside a long track on one side of the tray. Leave the tray slide out while you are putting the four screws back in holding the player to the metal base. Put the metal top back on with the open end on the slide end and press is down onto the metal base. Replace the top two and four bottom screws. Before you slide the player back throught the detents, aim the extended slide throught the slot in the front of the case and snap the smile back on. If you don't have the slide out and it gets pushed back into the player, the slide will lock in and you won't be able to snap the smile back onto the front of the slide. After that you can pop the players notches back into the detents. Plug all connectors back into the back of the player. Align the tabs through the slots on the bottom of the unit and slide them back until the four screw holes line up. Put the four bottom screws back in. Put the cover back on allign it so that the two screws that go to the case on each side that were hidden by the fenders. Replace the top two screws and the two counter sunk screws where the video and audio inputs are on the back. Replace the wheels. Each wheel must go back on it's correct side, Line up the tab and the space in the back of the wheel and push the wheel back in on each side. Replace the three screws in the middle of each wheel and put each fake lug nut back into place. Use a small pair of pliers to gently squeeae the tabs of the lug nuts so that they will go in the slots easier. Plug the unit back in, turn on and after you select dvd, then you can press the open/close button for the tray to come out.
No parts were needed, as the one small drive belt that comes off the tray motor had not stretched or broke. Great patience is needed just for the removal and replacement of the back of the case.

No Power

Don't know about your power problem, maybe you could be more specific. But, as for opening the case. Try this: Use a small flat screwdriver to pry outwards, on the nuts on the inside of the wheels, using the center piece as a leverage point. careful, it takes very little pressure to knock them loose. Behind three of the five nuts are holding screws. this will allow you to get at the fenders and remaining case screws. Note you will also have to remove 2 small screws in the back between the (RYW) AV connectors before splitting the case. Good luck.

But can't get dvd to play on tv, I've tryed channels 2, 3, and 4. But no picture. Again is there a switch over button or auxiliary button or ???
