The problem is the @&%#* windows SP2 and SP3. I have a Dell Monitor 1907Fp and an ATI Radeon X300 and neither works well the DVI out.

But I discovered a method that works in both ATI and NVIDIA video cards.

Solution:
1. Open Device Manager (Control Panel -> System -> Hardware)
2. Expand Display Adapters
In my case: ATI Radeon Series X300/X550/X1050
ATI Radeon Series X300/X550/X1050 Secondary
3. Disable -> ATI Radeon Series X300/X550/X1050
4. Restart PC

Doing this, Windows works with extended vga setup including in the same card. By disabling the device Windows does not load drivers that are creating the conflict because it does not send signals to the monitor and it goes into rest mode (saving energy).

The downside of this solution is that the card is working in basic mode, because drivers are used to activate the advanced features of the card, that is, performance in gaming or video editing decreases notoriously.

I hope it will help you in something.

Yes you can but there should be an option in the monitor settings for DVI... Maybe if you go into safe mode and attempt adjusting settings for the ati for the dvi output, from what I hear that monitor is nice with the DVI option would be aa shame to lose that.

Ati radeon X300 SE how to get both monitors working at the same time. Windows XP screen settings and ATI Catalyst Control Center can see only one at a time, but not both...

Use the DVI port, and the VGA port on the ATI Radeon X300SE graphics card.

If you have two monitors that are LCD, and they both have a DVI connector, use a DVI to VGA adapter for the VGA port on the ATI Radeon X300SE.

[You need a Female DVI to Male VGA adapter, such as this example,

http://www.directron.com/dviadapter.html

Turn both monitors on. Right-click on an empty spot on the desktop screen. Left-click on Properties, then the Settings tab.
Left-click on the monitor icon with the 2 in it.
Go down to ->Extend my desktop to this monitor, and left-click in the box to the left of it.

Go down to the right, and left-click on Apply.
Now go over to the left, and left-click on OK.

You should now have your desktop screen on both monitors. When you open a window on your Primary monitor, (Monitor icon 1), Left-click on the frame, hold the mouse button down, and drag this screen to the Secondary monitor.

If it doesn't work this way, drag to the other side.

Blank screen after boot up

Remove the card, plug into your built-in card. Start your PC in safe mode. Uninstall all ATI software and delete the card from Device Manager. Restart. Reinstall the ATI drivers. Power down. Install the card and connect your monitor to it. The OS will find the card in default mode - let it. Restart. When it comes back up, you will be able to select the full range of operating modes.
BACK UP :)

When I boot into Windows Vista Premium nothing on screen

In Safe Mode, your monitor will not be listed as it is using a generic device driver for basic display. Go into your video settings and reset it to the lowest resolution available. Reboot the computer into Vista again and your display should be working. If you check Device Manager now, you should see your monitor listed. If it isn't, you will need to load the Vista drivers for it. You can then modify your display settings to suit your preferences.

Acer x223w monitor - unexplained system freezes

is your lcd has a dvi port? aside from vga? and also is your video card has a dvi port? if all these questions meet, first uninstall the driver of your video card. Then, you need to switch your cable, in order to do this, you must place the one end of your cable to the dvi port of the cpu and the other end to your lcd dvi port. and reinstall the driver again of your video card. see if it works. because there is a certain problem that vga port configuration differs from the
dvi port. that's why when playing games, especially online games. sometimes your system will get corrupted.

Good luck! have a nice day

I had the same problem, you must call Viewsonic to change your screen. The DVI input on the screen is dead.

PC DVI to HDMI Regza Connection

I'm getting the same problem with an ATI Radeon HD 2400 going to a Regza AV555D on HDMI 1. In order to get the picture back I have to call up the source menu and move down to HDMI 2 (without clicking OK, just hover) and wait for the screen to change. Then go back to HDMI 1 for a few seconds until it flickers and then press OK. A bit long winded and far from a solution but it's enough to sync it all back together again

Ati radeon 9600 video card

what you have the ATI card hooked up can you see the boot screen? If you can see that you might want to try going into safe mode and making sure your graphics settings aren't set beyond the capability of your monitor. If you can't see the boot screen then your card might be dead.
