Question about Sierra Wireless Aircard 860 PC Card (SIASIERRAWIRELESSAIRCARD860P)

1 Answer

Going from USB to PC card

Our Sierra wireless 875u USB card is not connecting all the time because it apparently isn't getting a tight enough connection in the port. We tried an adapter and the same thing happens. It gets power but the data light doesn't always come on without some "fine tuning".

Anyway, we bought a used pc card- Sierra 860. I know it's old but we were mostly wanting it for a backup when our usb finally kicks the bucket. We thought it would be a simple insert the current SIM card from the usb, put it in the pc card and install. Didn't quite work that way...

We installed the drivers, watcher and firmware from Sierra and we still get nothing. The AT&T communication manager and Watcher both say "No wireless device detected" when trying the aircard. When we switch back to the usb, they both work fine.

What else could be the problem? Thanks!

Try this link.https://www.wireless.att.com/support/lap... I will also tell you that most Sierra cards install a program named "driver installer". You may have to remove that program the 875u installed and then install the dinosaur.

It may not be compatible with either software version or it's possible the version of "driver installer" is only compatible with the USB, If you'd go into device manager on your PC and make sure you see drivers for the modem, network adapter, ports and usbs for the 860 you should be able to set up a dial up connection. This will help you do that. https://www.wireless.att.com/support/tutorials.do?tutorialPage=page2&universe=att&deviceId=8330&tutorialsCategory=Connection+Methods You also may want to take a look at this article https://www.wireless.att.com/support/tutorials.do?tutorialPage=page2&universe=att&deviceId=8330&tutorialsCategory=Getting+Started&tutorialId=214910

How do I fix my wireless internet connection?

It sounds as though your SIM card is the problem. Try cleaning the contacts with acetone or electronic connection cleaner. If that doesn't work, your carrier is going to have to replace the SIM.

I writing this on an Aspire One. Based on my own experience, you can check out the laptop and the SIM by putting the SIM in a Sierra Wireless usb adapter and plugging it in. I use the adapter because I can plug in an external antenna with no problem and increase the signal strength to the max.

I'm tryin to install the sierra wireless card 598 on win 98 manually. Does anyone know how to do

Hello sir, hi, installing a USB device on windows 98 is kinda hard but possible. here are some things that you should do:
  1. you may need the sierra CD device driver that comes with your wireless card.
  2. next is that your PC should support USB 1.1 or 2.0. If you are using windows 98, make sure that your USB port is working fine, you can insert a flash drive to confirm if your usb port is working.
  3. depending on the setup files they may need you to plug in the device as the setup file loads the driver or later.
  4. run the sierra CD setup file to install your wireless card. (hope win 98 supports this device)
  5. after the setup, plug in your wireless USB device, windows 98 should detect it.
If things didnt work out as listed above, do it setup several times, ............ still no progress call your dealer for proper installation on your PC.

try connecting with a cat5 cable instead of using the wireless. It is possible your problem is your wireless connection and not your service provider. Make sure your ether net connection is not disabled.

Sierra aircard 875u connect to Playstation 3

ok guys ive found the solution. i have a sprint usb aircard and had the same problem for like 6 months and just yesterday i found out how to make it work.

1) connect laptop/ CPU to internet as usual*
2)go to control panel
3) go to network and internet connections
4)go to network connections
5) next tight click on you internet provider thing. and go to properties.
6) click on advanced tab
7) then just follow the instruction to make it a shared connection and thats all to it.

fyi: its probably going to lag alot if your not in a good reception area. other than that the lag is bearable.

ps: if you need more help, or if you just want to say thank you email me at : Carlosl70n@yahoo.com
