I bought it from a friend and didn't get the software. When I plug it into the computer, it is either corrupted or unreadable. sometimes, the computer recognizes it but i can't add or delete any files. I have looked for drivers without success on downloads.com, driver guide and the sandisk site. None of the programs I've downloaded are of any help.

Re: My sansa e260 doesn't work
Try updating the firmware. They have two different versions of the e260, make sure you check your current firmware so you can update to the correct one. http://www.sansa.com/support/sansa_e200/troubleshooting

Jw... anyways if it came with a plug in for the computer to charge it a box will pop up if u plug it in... go to view files in that box and it will show everything on the sansa on the computer then go to the **** and right click then go down to delete and click yes then the **** is gone...
try formatting it. to do that, simply scroll down to settings, and in

don't work then try updating. if your unsure how to update go here. and install the program.
It is because the e260 is not in MSC mode (where it looks to the computer like a hard disk).
Try this, this will temporarily set your e260 into MSC mode. Then download and install the firmware as per instructions (or use the Sansa Updater software also available on the Sansa site). This will then let you see a menu item to switch to MSC mode.
MSC mode instructions:
Turn on the e200 v2
Put the device in Hold (move Hold button until orange is showing)
Press and hold the Left Button
Plug the 30 pin connector into the device (be sure the USB is plugged into the computer)
Wait for the e200 drive(s) to show up
Follow instructions below and drag files to the e200 drive
