Question about Toastmaster 208 Pizelle Maker Waffle Maker

1 Answer

Pizzelle maker 208 won't heat up.

I've only used it a few times. I plugged it in tonight and the lights were lit, but it never heated up.

Most appliances that work with heat, are equipped with a thermal fuse so if the thermostat fails, the fuse opens and prevents a fire. It is basically a good idea since all of our junk now comes from China and half of it is poorly designed and unreliable.
These fuses are normally not user replaceable since they are crimped or welded into series with one side of the AC line. And, they are tough as hens' teeth to find anyhow.
A year ago, I had three coffeemakers of the same model die in as many days. I took a refund.
The Toastmaster toaster we have, bought because of the name and appearance, is the absolute worst toaster we have ever owned. It regularly leaves one side of each slice burned, the other too light. I'm afraid the name means nothing anymore.

I have a pizzelle maker when do I know the right time to open & pour batter and when it is ready to be removed without burning

Some irons have one light that indicates that the heating element is on. I think that the Saulton iron has two lights. One light indicates that the iron is plugged in. The second light indicates that the heating element is on. You should wait until the second light goes off before trying to bake the first pizzelle. The second light will turn on and off as the thermostat regulates the heat. The cooking time depends on the pizzelle iron that you use. A good iron can bake a pizzelle in 30 seconds. The Salton iron WM8PZL takes up to 90 seconds for each cycle. Check the pizzelles after 30 seconds. The first pizzelles are seldom good. Experiment with the baking times to get the baking time right. After that keep up a steady pace to produce consistent results.
Early pizzelle irons were heated over open fires and made good pizzelles so with some practice you will be able to make pizzelles too.

I lost my recipe booklet for my Berarducci "Dolce" pizzelle iron. Can you find one online for me?

There are 8 recipes in the manual available here: fantes.com/manuals/dolce-pizzelle-manual.pdf . Note: you will need Adobe Reader or a similar program to read the manual.

I hope this helps.

Broken leg on Villaware pizzelle maker

You might try putting a screw of about the length of the original leg into the underside of the casing (drill it a little with a power-drill or a Dremel, then carefully insert the screw with a handheld screwdriver, testing it at intervals to make sure it's the length of the leg,) and then cover the screw in some Sugru. www.sugru.com should be able to sell you a few packets of the stuff; it's heat-resistant, very strong, and I've used it in several kitchen-gadget fixes.

Where do I find this perticular make and model? I need 2 or 3 of 'em

You are out of luck as this is an old problem the season is long past.
I am fairly shure that Toastmaster no longer makes this Pizzelle iron. A better solution is an American made Pizzelle Iron by C.Palmer
Built like a tank and will probably outlast you. I wouldn't buy a non stick appliance from anyone as the coating is easily damaged.

My waffle iron no longer heats up.just a red light

Had the same problem with the WMK300 that others are reporting. Plug it in, hear the click, red light goes on but unit does not heat up. Found the thermal fuse in the white insulation on the bottom unit. Found replacement at Radio Shack (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102788). Works great!

FDD8 sandwich maker will not heat up

The purpose of the button is to shut off the power to the heating coil when there is no cooking plate in place. It appears by your tests that the button (switch) has failed. You can jumper around the switch to verify that this is the case. If the heating coil gets hot with the jumper in place, then you need to replace the switch (button). If it does not get hot, then either the heating coil has a bad connection to the wiring. the coil is actually bad and needs to be replaced or there is a break in the neutral circuit somewhere. Did you do a continuity check on the neutral side of the circuit? There should also be a thermostat (tempurature control) and a thermofuse in the circuit that you should also check for continuity.
