When I had a similar issue with my PS2 (GT4 would not load) it was because the disk-reading laser was misaligned. That happened after using the system for many years, so if your system is new, maybe you can skip to the 2nd part of my answer. A slight misalignment could mean that the disk is still read, but the process takes longer. If COD5 requires frequent access to the disk when booting up - as GT4-, that might explain why other games load properly and COD5 doesn't.
Other potential problems: scratched disk (visible scratches), dirty disk (you can clean with a cloth, sweeping radially from the center to the border of the disk), problem with the COD5 data installed in your PS3 hard disk (try reinstalling the game).
If the wavy line is like static I no exactly what you mean My old Laptop did that to me but that's because my niece dropped it so you might want to think back if you have ever dropped it if not then you might need to get a new hard drive for it because PS3's have a tendency to Screw up because mine wont play any games it just doesn't even try to read the disc but you might have left the system on too long and fried it as well. so i suggest you either have a professional look at it or replace the hard drive and i doubt you want to buy a new system so i hoped i helped you out ttyl BYE.
Ok i have good news and bad news. The good news is you don't have to send it to sony for 150 bucks, you can fixs it and i will tell you. Ok it could take a few times but all you have to do is hold the turn on button hold it for a few secs remember it will take a few times but it works. Now the bad news it will come up with a few options do restore system, now you will lose all your saves and you will have to sign up for ps3 network again (if you had it) bu i does save you a 150 bucks right. Well i hope this helps it did for me.
