Question about Kenmore 73502 / 73504 / 73509 Bottom Freezer Refrigerator
Everything thawed out in freezer, both freezer and fridge blow cool air.
I vacuumed condensor coils best I could.
one thing I noticed was that compressor was hot to the touch and heard clicking from compressor after un plugging for about 15 minutes.
the evaporator does not seem to be covered with ice and I can hear and feel air blowing from both fridge and freezer.
somewhere I read a post about an overheat capacitor on compressor being bad could that be the case?
Any help would be appreciated Thanks!

After pulling the fridge away from the wall and removing the lower right hand panel I noticed that the compressor (big round black ball with copper tubing) was not turning on. I also noticed that there was a ticking or popping sound comming from it every couple of minutes or so. After doing some research online in numerouse forums I decided to try and replace the overheat relay that is attached to the compressor. It only took maybie five minutes at most to change it and the compressor is now working with nice cold air comming into the fridge and freezer. Hope this helps someone else with the same problem.

It is the compressor that has failed. The hum is it trying to start and the following click is the overload protector opening. What is the temperature where the refrigerator is located? Allow the compressor to cool down before trying to restart it. If it still does not restart after it has cooled off it is done.

The repair person came and in my case it was a start capacitator connected to the compressor. When he replaced the start capacitator the compressor came on immediately and started working. The charge $ 240 (Flat Rate) for the fix. The repair person told me its a universal start capacitator which I found online for $29. Worth trying to fix yourself before paying $240 if your a handy person.
