Question about Micro Solutions RoadStor Pro (738909003104) DVD±RW Burner

2 Answers

Just bought this RoadStor and can't get it to perform the first basic function which is to burn a CF card to a CD. I tried using an 8 gig card with 5 images. I press the burn button twice and in a few seconds it spits out the card and gives me a "burn failure" message. No difference when using a CD-R or CD-RW disc. I tried a 258 MB card with 2 images and it went up to 04% burned before spitting out both CD-R and CD-RW discs. I get the same results with the battery or A/C Power. I have read MANY reviews of this product and MANY people have had the same problem, but no one can give an answer as to the solution. They just complain. Any suggestions?

Yes you;re correct that alot of user have same problem as you and this problem is can be cause by a software glitch inside this portable burner that causes it not to work properly, fuirst thing that you can try is to contact the manufacturer and ask if there's any software update that you can do if none I suggest you replace this unit with adifferent brand...

I bought a 4 gig CF card for my fuji S2, and when I intiailize the card, I get a "card error". Is my card bad, or will my camera not support such a high gig card? 1 gig cards work fine.

From administrative tools in the control panel on a pc,you can format a 4 gig card to fat (not fat32) in the disk management window. It works fine in my Fuji s2.

8 GB CF card has made the camera lose the Raw function even when I return old 1GB CF card still the same... any ideas?

1st, make sure the camera is in the Creative zone P, TV, AV, M or A-Dep. I have made this mistake many time and everytime I forget I moved the dial.

If dial is in the Creative Zone and still no RAW option then have the camera format the card, if that doesn't work do the following:

Turn off camera,
Remove lens,
Put on body cap.
Remove CF Card
Remove Battery
Let sit for about 30 minutes.
Put battery back in.
Put CF Card back in
Turn camera on
Put camera in Creative Zone
Push Menu button
Push Set button twice and check if RAW is now an option

If not then you can try the clear all settings function in the Set-Up 2 menu. Push the menu button then the left arrow button arrow down to the clear settings line push set the clear all functions.

If this doesn't help then I would say carry it to your nearest Canon Dealer that offers cleaning and service.

Memory card

Because this camera only understads FAT16 formatting, it does not accept any card larger than 2GB so your best bet is to use the current crop of standard 2GB CF cards, most newer ones (usually 16X and faster) are alsa fast enough for continuous VGA video as well. The best brands IMO are Lexar and Sandisk, but avoid the WA enabled cards, this camera can't make use of WA, it just slows the througput down.

Alternatively you may partition your 8GB card to a 2GB partition, but the rest of the card won't be accessible.

no problem using the 4 or 8 gig SD cards, or the 2 gig xD cards. I would recommend using a 2 or 4 gig SD card. Unless you really need to store a ton of images ( or you need to shoot a lot of video), stick to a medium-sized card. Trying to find one image on an 8 gig card is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Most large cards that come into my shop only have a small percentage of the space used anyhow.

When i put my cf memory card in it says it's full but it isn't full it's empty

Maybe the format of the file system is not recongized by your camera. You can format it with the Format Command on your camera.
