No sound on two local channels?

I just got this tv and two local channels don't have sound. They both show SAP SAP and above that TV14. They seem to be the only two that show SAP SAP. I programed the channels and made sure that it is on Cable STD which is what I have it connected to. What do I need to do? I don't have the instruction manual. Thanks

Thanks for the information. It looks like I'm going to have to buy a remote. Unless I can figure a way to erase the SAP from the file.

Do you have the original remote? it will look like the one here: If you do not have the original remote you will not be able to switch off the SAP setting, without it as there is a button that controls the sound. when this button is pressed you see where to turn off the SAP setting. Good Luck

Brand new, connected to new cox cable box, video works great but no sound

if just running HDMI cable try adding audio cables too, check all your volume and mute settings in the system setup.
If you have audio on most channels, but have silence on some or all of your local network channels, you may have the Secondary Audio Programming (SAP) turned ON. Complete the following steps to turn off SAP.
  1. Press the Settings or MENU button on the digital remote.

    Result: The Settings screen displays.
  2. Choose from the following options.
If... Then... Disable SAPdisplays Press the Select button. Choose SAP Languagedisplays Use the left or right arrow buttons to choose the English setting and press Select. PREFERENCESdisplays Scroll to the Language option, select Audio, then select the option labeled Primary or the one labeled English. If the above quick fix doesn't work, there may be a problem with MTS, Stereo, or another SAP issue. Try the following:
  • Verify in the program listing guide that the program has MTS, Stereo, or SAP features.
  • Check to see if the MTS, STEREO or SAP light on the TV or VCR is on.
If the light is not on, try the following:
  • Push the MTS, STEREO, or SAP button on the TV or VCR.
  • Adjust the fine tuning on the TV set to restore the stereo or SAP.

Why the sound only on certain channels and some channels start speaking Spanish?

You most likely have the SAP (Second Audio Program) feature enabled. Many shows do not have this sound track and that is when you hear nothing. When the SAP is on, it is usually in Spanish for English-speaking programs. Check your TV remote for SAP and see if you can disable it.

How do I turn off the SAP? My mom somehow turned it on and now only gets sound on some of her channels and some in spanish!

U have the original tv remote?Yes.Look for it on the remote for a button that said SAP pushes to turn it off.If u don't have the tv original remote, might could also be turn it off inside the tv internal Menu functions setup, but probally not because the SAP design in tvs are mostly just a SAP button on the tvs original remote design only.Try website like to buy the tv original remote.

Sound goes out for certain programs or commercials on different channels, but not all of them

Check your tv's audio settings. If there is an "SAP" button on your remote try hitting that. It stands for secondary audio program. Most manufacturers put it near the corners of the remote leaving it prone to getting hit without knowing. Most shows are broadcast with a spanish version of the audio. Hitting that button should allow you to hear it, but some tv networks do not broadcast the SAP audio making it seem like there is no audio. It usually affects more than one channel, and commercials do not broadcast SAP either.

No sound on channels that have SAP instead of Stereo

You can access the menus using the buttons on the set. Go to audio menu, you'll find a setting that says listen to and have choices of mono stereo or sap, choose stereo.

Spectroniq PLTV-20NW32 volume only works on some channels

Hi lisadean767,
It is possible that without realizing, your TV is programmed to receive SAP or Second Audio Program audio. When this happens, your TV responds like this: when SAP is not being broadcast, you'll receive regular program audio. However, when the SAP audio is sent along with the regular, (English) program audio, your TV will automatically switch to the SAP channel. You'll know your TV is programmed to receive SAP because you'll hear the commercials in English and any other program in English if the SAP is not being sent.

Check and see if your tv is setup for SAP. Let me know if this helps and if I can be of further assistance, Please rate this solution.

SAP is short for "second audio program" and is a way to send a second audio track along with the main one. In many areas stations use SAP to provide Spanish or other language sound for movies and other programs. If you have SAP turned on you don't know it until you tune to a channel where it's being used, and then you hear the other sound. Just turn SAP off using the remote control or TV menu.

No Sound on TV

I did not answer the original question you posed but the SAP is the acronym for Separate Audio Program and is used to provide spanish for instance on a show which is broadcast in both english and spanish. The problem is not all stations have audio on the SAP. If your audio processor is set to SAP and you switch to a channel which has nothing on SAP you loose audio. I'm guessing someone suggested this prior to this post. If you checked your TV and it is not on SAP that eliminates that. I would look at the audio circuit for problems. Either no power to the audion circuit, bad solder joints, blown output IC or possibly a blown speaker. I know the last one is remote but it does happen and it never hurts to check the simple problems first. Besides you aren't embarrassed later when you find out it was something simple. If you are going to check these issues out remember safety. Good luck.
