Memory Card Formatting for Z740 - max memory?

We just got an 8GB memory card (SDHC) that won't format. Is this card memory too large for our Z740? What is the max mem I can use?

Thanks,
Troy

From my web research, it seems that the Z740 has a limit, and can't use the new SDHC technology ( then again, I just saw an ad for a new type SDHC card that's 8GB and is "supposed" to work for the Z740, but I know nothing about that ). Short and long is, 2GB is the normal limit, and no -HC cards will work in the Z740 as far as I know NOW. Anything from 256Kb to 2Gb should work fine in the camera, but the newer HC cards supposedly will not.

Bought a 8 gb sd card for my kodax dx7630 and says it needs formatting, but then goes back to need formatting. to large? thanks

The DX7630 works with MMC and SD cards, 2GB or smaller. Your 8GB card is actually an SDHC card, and the DX7630 will not recognize it.

My Z740 won't format my 8G memory card. When I turn it on - it says memory card needs formatted. I tell it to format - and it just repeats the Memory Card requires formatting message. Rich

The Z740 works with MMC and SD cards. Your 8GB card is actually an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it is electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to use MMC or SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

8MB or 8GB? If it's actually an 8MB card, you'll be able to put maybe two or three pictures on it, so I'll assume it's an 8GB card.

The DX4530 is designed to work with SD cards. Your 8GB card is actually an SDHC card. While SDHC cards will fit into SD devices, there are electronic difference that prevent them from working there. SD cards will work in SDHC devices but not the other way around.

You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

I purchased a new memory card (sandisk sdhc ) it will not format?

Get a new camera :-)

Seriously, the Z740 is designed to work with SD cards, not SDHC cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the camera, they will not work. You need to buy SD cards 2GB and smaller.

SDHC Card 4 GB SanDisk will not format. get

The Z740 uses SD cards, not SDHC cards. SDHC cards will physically fit into the card slot but are not compatible. It's a hardware incompatibility, not updatable in firmware. You'll have to stay with 2GB and smaller SD cards.

I have a SDHC 8GB and the z740 continually wants the camera to format the memory

The memory card that you have is not compatible on your camera. SDHC type is not recommended to use on the camera that you have. Try to use the SD card atleast 2GB SD card or less.
