I finally got my r50e connected to the wireless internet network but my moment of triumph was very short-lived as, now, the browser says it cannot display webpage. Computer tells me to reset router when I run a diagnostic but even when I do it still isnt working and all other computers in the house are completely fine with the network. Any suggestions?

If the other computers in the house are using the same router switch you computer line to one of the jacks that are working, and see if that solves the problem. If not then run the IP software,if available,on your laptop.

Try updating the driver for your wireless card first. If that doesn't work check with the router company to make sure your card is compatible with their router. When I buily my new computer my ethernet card needed swapped as the onboard driver was not compatible with my router.

Try connecting to the Internet through the ethernet port (via a cable). If Internet Explorer loads the target page then you have a configuration problem with WI-Fi access : The wireless security settings are not allowing the computer to access the Internet.
If Internet Explorer does not connect with the cable then the problem resides with Internet Explorer. Try to reset the defaults. To confirm that download FireFox and use it. Besides you need two browsers just in case one acts up.

When I try to connect to Yahoo mail, I get the message, Internet explorer cannot display the webpage

Hi,,

If you receive the error "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" there are several things you can try to resolve the issue. We first need to decide if the problem is related to your network connectivity, the website, or a problem with your browser. This is why we often recommend users have at least two web browsers on their computer. If you use Internet Explorer and something happens to it, you may not ever be able to get online without reinstalling Windows or doing a system restore. You should also have a secondary user account on the machine just in case, as this gives you the added benefit of having different settings and rights, would could contribute to someone losing their access due to malicious code or accidentally deleting a file they should not have. You also need to make sure the problem is not specific to that website. It's possible the site simply might be temporarily down.
Suggestions to Fix Internet Explorer Cannot Display the Webpage Error Reboot the computer - It's a little known fact that 99 percent of all strange computer errors can be fixed simply be rebooting the computer. If that doesn't work, shut the PC completely down for a while then power up to see if the problem still exists. We won't go into why this works, but it might, so give it a try.
Power Cycle the Network - Shut down the computer, unplug the router and unplug the modem. Power them back on in the reverse order. This will help clear up any IP and DNS problems you might be experiencing.
Check your IP address- Go to Start > Run and type cmd and hit OK. At the prompt, type ipconfig /all and make sure you are getting an IP address local to your network, such as 192.168.x.x and NOT 169.254.x.x. The latter IP address beginning in 169 is a made up IP address Windows uses when it cannot get one from the DHCP server, which is usually your router or Internet Service Provider.
Try A Different Web Browser- If you have a second web browser, such as Firefox, give that a try. If you can connect with the other browser, try resetting your Internet Explorer by opening the browser and going to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab>Restore.
You can also try deleting your temp files and refreshing the browser window by hitting the F5 key. But this type of problem is often network related and can be fixed by confirming all connections and IP addresses are correct.

Have a nice day

My computer keeps saying ''webpage cannot be displayed''

Hello monkie_gurl2,

This usually happens when the browser cannot access the internet. Make sure your firewall settings allow the browser to access the internet. Also, make sure you are connecting to the internet ok by checking email. And internet explorer can help diagnose the problem by selecting the 'Tools' menu option and then selecting 'Diagnose Connection Problems...'. Finally, the internet explorer settings can be examined and changed by selecting the 'Tools' menu option and then selecting 'Internet Options'

I thank you for giving a rating to this solution if it has been helpful.

Have a great day,

Connect to internet

right click on the network icon in the taskbar, and click repair. Are you using wireless or wired? There are several things which must occur for a system to be set up to properly connect to a network, or to a new network should that be the case.

Also, try viewing a different webpage. Type in (in the address bar) something easy, like www.google.com and see what happens.

God luck let us know how that works out
