Need instructions for replacing and wiring Motherboard

Luckily that is pretty easy with modern motherboards.
1. Remove power and unplug all devices hooked to computer.
2. Open case.
3. Write down the location and orientation of all wires connecting to old motherboard.
4. Disconnect all wires from the case that are plugged into old motherboard.
5. Uncrew the screws holding the motherboard in the case.
6. Carefully remove old motherboard.
7. Install new motherboard and secure it to the case (probably using the same screws as the old MB)
8. Refer to diagram you made earlier to plug in all the wires to the proper places in the new motherboard.
9. Check and make sure the new motherboard works before closing the case.
10. If everything is working correctly, close up the case and you are done.

On/off switch

Usually the power on button only has two wires. Then you have HDD led leads, reset leads, power led leads etc. These are all separate wires that fit onto separate pins in the Jpanel1 (front panel header).

Could be that the really old emachines grouped all these wires and made them into a plug to fit their own style motherboards.

If this is the case then that connector would not be on your newer motherboard, and it would have that Jpanel1 instead.

Hope this helps as I'm not very familiar with the old emachines.

Power wont com on

The wires from a powerswitch are soldered onto it most of the time. You will either have to re-solder them, purchase a new switch or simply buy a new computer case.

The easiest would be to purchase a new power switch. Connecting it to your motherboard shouldn't be a problem if you have documentation on your motherboard. They are very cheap (around $5) and shouldn't take too long to install if you know your way around a motherboard.

Connector pulled off power buton wires

Hi ford, the most common case colored wires used for negative - is white. The colors blue, red, green are usually positive +. The internal speaker though it uses a 4 pin connector only plugs onto the 2 end pins. Black is connected to negative - pin & red is connected to + positive pin. (Depending on the MB model).
All these case LED's use 5volts DC. If you make a boo-boo, don't freak out. You can usually shut down the system & turn the connector 180 & re-connect it with out hurting the board. Suggest you connect 1 at a time & check in-between each.

Still having trouble, include the name & model number of the MB.
Good luck!

Hp motherboard

Hi, I assume you are refering to the plug wires from the case to the motherboard. There is no adaptor because most motherboards have a slightly diferent layout The speaker wire and plug is usualy on a spread plug, sometimes the led and switch plugs can be also on a spread plug patern, If this is your problem then get a very small set of side cutters, toenail cutters will do, and very carefully cut the plug to seperate the two individual plugs, then just plug the wires onto the pins, Turn them side ways so they do not interfere with each other. Foxconn moterboard

Does the system not even start up the power supply? That most likely means you've wired up your power button incorrectly. Also it could be possible that you're grounding the motherboard to the case. Make sure it is screwed onto the case correctly.
