Cant get audio reception

I have a tview 1006 And the guy that installed it said to use station 90.5 fm. worked great in his shop. get on the road out of town and it does not work so good. Hit a town that has a 90.5 station and now I get nothing. cant find another station that it works on. even when it was working it was filled w static. Any suggestions. Cant get any help from the person that installed it, he says look at your manual but it does not address this problem.
