I have a 50" Hitachi rear-projection HDTV. Recently someirregular light blue spots have appeared on the screen, usually after it has been turned on for awhile. The lamp was replaced about 8 months ago. Any ideas?

All other info and checking the lamp suggests that a more likely source of these expanding light blue areas is the light engine. Ideas? Is this worth fixing?

The set is a Hitachi 50SV69A, probably a 2006 model. If there is any fix other than a new light engine, I would like to hear about it. Thanks

All teh evidence does seem to suggest a failure in the blue LED in the light engine. Guess I will begin the tedious process of trying to get Hitachi to replace the part. This set is less than two years old, so ti would only seem fair. But then again, as Jimmy Carter once noted, "Life is not fair." Thanks
