If your persistant, Hitachi will replace the light engine underwarranty. I know several peeps who got thier light engine replace,because it is happeniing on almost all of Hitachi's TV sets. they willtry to deny it, but if you read a bit from a post Im leaving you, youwill see what Im talking about.Go to

Blue spots or blue clouds appears when blue LCD and blue color filter got defective in Light Engine (optical block) of TV.
Usually Manufacturer advice to replace light engine completely but it is big and costly part of TV so...
Qualified tech can look for LCD replacement in light engine.

All other info and checking the lamp suggests that a more likely source of these expanding light blue areas is the light engine. Ideas? Is this worth fixing?
The set is a Hitachi 50SV69A, probably a 2006 model. If there is any fix other than a new light engine, I would like to hear about it. Thanks
All teh evidence does seem to suggest a failure in the blue LED in the light engine. Guess I will begin the tedious process of trying to get Hitachi to replace the part. This set is less than two years old, so ti would only seem fair. But then again, as Jimmy Carter once noted, "Life is not fair." Thanks
